You can fix the Senate by stopping the pretending that's going on that Puerto Rico and Washington DC do not deserve representation. That's 4 more Senators. We are a Constitutional Republic. Not a Democracy. I actually believe, and still believe in the Senate and how it is constructed. However, I never dreamed, nor did anyone else that we would have a Christian Theocratic Cabal in charge of one of the two parties that has no voter accountability and sole purpose for existence is to tear this government apart. And I also never dreamed that voters would stand for it this long.

But it seems you don't like the Federal set-up. May I humbly refer you to Article V of the US Constitution, where you'll also find the Senate is set up to represent the States within the Federal system. The House is the populace.

Should I want to see a change, it'd be repeal of the Seventeenth Amendment. That'd give even more reason for people to pay attention to who they send to their state capital.

You can save the electoral college and the house by expanding it to a minimum of 1000 members. Then the house representation dwarfs the senate overrepresentation of the middle of the country and we get a more responsive house, too, as each rep covers about 300,000 people instead of the 700,000 currently.

On background, one of the seven cooperative principals is "democratic member control".

Take a power (G&T) cooperative I know fairly well. It's made up of eleven distribution cooperatives. Each of the eleven gets one vote at the board room table. That said:

• One of the distribution coops is over 50,000 members (meters); another is barely 1600. Each distribution coop gets one vote at the G&T.
• Two of the eleven coops are over 50% of power purchases from the G&T. Two votes, one per. The under 50% group gets nine.

And I'm in the 50,000 member cooperative that has the same one vote as the 1600. Yeah, that doesn't always feel so great.

I understand what you're saying, "WeAreNDHockey"; but, it's a package deal. The small coop needs a way to make sure the big coop doesn't run it over within the prior agreed upon frameworks. (Two wolves and one sheep voting on dinner anecdote here.)

The Senate is a BS, antiquated holdover meant to appease slave states. We should’ve gotten rid of it decades ago.

If we can’t get rid of it we should do what Labour did to the House of Lords and completely neuter it’s power: Make it a simple yes or no chamber. No power to introduce bills, no power to change bills, no filibuster, just a simple yes or no that can be overridden by the House.

We are certainly going to learn something about American women. A woman who votes R now is simply insane. So, what percentage of those are there? We will find out in November.

Up until now women voting R could be stupid and/or delusional and tell themselves the Rs would never actually do it. But now they have. This is the difference between sheltering your roommate who has murder fantasies and sheltering him when he has actually murdered.

My guess is nothing will change. But plenty of women are telling me, no, this is going to hit the Rs hard enough that it will show up at the polls, perhaps decisively. So we'll see whether my abiding disrespect for the average voter is justified, or whether there actually is a depth she won't sink to.

Take the smallest state, set that to 1 House member, add two senators, index the rest by population per electoral vote. So Wyoming gets 3. California gets 68x that (39,664,128-582,233)/582,333 = 68 ---> 68*3 = 204 ----> House = 202, Senators = 2. Everyone in the country has equal representation. The states are overrepresented in the Senate, the people are overrepresented in the House. It's worse in the senate by a factor of 23 (max/min) / (max/min) = 23.
