That's an excellent way of describing the process.

I dont think the Senate would do +6. I doubt they would even do +1. We know for sure Manchin would be a no and I think we can all guess who else would be a no. Not to mention there will be blowback...the kind we don't want long term.

Look, lets speak pragmatically for a second. We know the line for this court. They won't let Democracy fall because Democracy helps the rich get richer. They will screw over everyone, but they want the country to stay status quo on the fundamentals. Well Democracy is how we win, and they are basically handing us every issue of a friggin silver platter. And even better, they are complicit with a party that has literally zero agenda outside Rich White Christian Male Grievances. We are taking our losses now and it phucking sucks hard but those decisions are longterm going to lead to us winning democratically. That is all we can do realistically at this point.

We worry every cycle that Dems will stay home, that they get complacent or bored or don't fall in love with a candidate. Well, these clowns aren't letting that happen anymore. And we have to keep using it to keep winning. Every issue that has been proven to be a winner for us, they keep making easier for us to win on. Abortion, LGBTQ Rights, Student Debt, Affirmative Action, Climate Change Guns...they all poll positive for us. The populace is on our side on every issue and the Supreme Court has now made every election a referendum on those issues. And we are running against a group that also antagonizes the populace on each of these issues and only knows they hate the word Woke. We have been handed an opportunity by this ridiculously stupid Court to rebuild everything that has been destroyed the last 40 years...and if we are smart about it we won't need +6 to save Democracy. +6 would strengthen Democracy guaranteeing it lives another 100 years. (might even guarantee humans will still be here in 100 years)

Biden said yesterday adding justices would politicize the court. Leonard Leo already did that

Stuff like these decisions is why I am less concerned in '24 than most. Every time there is a poll showing Biden struggling with the GOP House or Supreme Court says HOLD MY BEER!!! and steals all the headlines. Then Biden gets to rail against it and everyone (minus certain types of voters that probably will vote for Marianne Williamson) gets to see why Biden is the guy we need. And the RFK Jr. talks and we all get a hardy chuckle!

So in an article (which has now changed) the NYT posted about how to still get Student Loan Forgiveness this was an actual option:

Ummm...cool I should just kill myself THEN I AM DEBT FREE!!!

(they have since changed it to reflect more that if you die the debt doesn't transfer to your family)

Yeah, wont someone think of the bankers?!?!?

Someone should take the same route with farm subsidies and see how fast no one on any court has a problem doling out millions in welfare yearly to them.

Biden should put another pause on and then forget to hit unpause ;^)

Edit: And so they did. Student loan forgiveness is d-e-d, dead.
Basically nailed it on the head for student loan forgiveness. Been saying (more accurately, the people I read have been saying) since the appeals court blocked it in October that SCOTUS would use the major questions doctrine to strike it down for good. And so they did.
There is another way Biden could cancel student loan forgiveness, but even if he takes that route, I could easily see it meeting the same fate at this current attempt.
