At this level, the LL guys are usually pretty solid for what they are, but seniority also plays a factor with the assignments. I didn't see any other game film, but the HP Umpire did some stuff here that has me thinking "W-T-F?!"
They also have a headset during review that’s in contact with Williamsport, so no one in the command center thought to step in and say “hey guys you can’t make a dead ball live again”?

U3 should’ve made his case before they went to review, unless of course he wasn’t confident in the rule or if it was his call.

And yeah, agreed on HP. Betting he does basketball based on the “count it” signal he made on the ruling.

I'm thinking that only the UIC (Plate Guy) is the only one permitted to talk to Williamsport. It seems as if he called it fair, so he probably did believe it was his call being looked at. Also his "Score the run" mechanic kind of hints at the guy having a "God Complex" (meaning he likely views his calls as right ALL THE TIME). If that is the case, U3 may have been caught up in the moment and not wanted to disrupt HP.

The mistake is a solid indicator that this group either didn't pregame stuff very well beforehand (which, if you ever worked with a "God Complex" you realize this can be difficult), or the entire situation just hit everything just right to result in just a BAD call and a VERY bad time. I feel bad for team on this one mostly though. This was stuff that should be engrained at this level.
It's never too early to start the Pre-game festivities

When this was mentioned on the Mets radio broadcast last night, play-by-play guy Howie Rose laughed uncontrollably. It may have been the only authentic thing I have ever heard from Howie, who is such a polished company man he can read a Carvana ad like it's a love letter. But there was something magical about "ringworm medication" that broke him.

This was the play Sparty and I were discussing a bit earlier in the thread.

This was a complete breakdown of UMPIRE 101 type things on this play. The Plate umpire ruled fair on a ball that wasn't his call to make. Williamsport seemed to have "fair" as the call on the field, and there wasn't a good angle to show the ball actually being foul. So they went with "Call Stands".

That said, under ANY ruleset, once a ball is called FOUL, that's it, end of play... You can't "unring" the bell at that point. This play absolutely should have been a foul ball since U3 clearly called that. But he kept quiet about it for reasons only known to him. My guess is that his partner on the plate was probably quite difficult to work with and had a "God" complex on the field. So U3 just kept his mouth shut to not antagonize the plate guy/Crew Chief.

Ignoring that the plate ump either didn’t see U3’s call or decided to trump it while ignoring or not knowing the dead ball rule, ignoring that U3 didn’t speak up for his own call while ignoring or not knowing the dead ball rule, ignoring U1 not coming in to be a crew saver and say the foul call trumps all (unless he didn’t know what happened), I cannot believe this went to review in Williamsport and no one there spoke up about it. Clearly the foul signal showed up in what they were reviewing. The call literally went to the very top levels of the league and they didn’t even enforce it.
