  • Domino's are tipping. Bally missed its payment to the Padres, Padres tell Bally to pound sand. MLB to produce the games for San Diego starting with tomorrow's game at Miami, and also provide free streaming of the Padres through Sunday.

San Diego and MLB is looking at having a local broadcaster take over.

    • SD fans get the games free on MLB TV thru Sunday, then will get a discounted rate. And MLB is negotiating with different cable companies to get their games on "different cable channels." So they would just open a separate channel temporarily? Been awhile since I've seen that. I think that's how the early Fox Sports Plus games were handled before they made it a full time channel.

Unfortunately Detroit doesn't appear to be a market Diamond is looking to dump.

      • Mets pitching faced 28 batters in their 2-0 win tonight. Allowed a walk and 2 singles, but got a double play and one caught stealing. No Philly reached second.

Yeah we are stuck with Bally since Detroit is one of the profitable markets they own while also holding the streaming rights. Detroit will likely be one of the last to get onto mlb.tv without local blackouts.

          • What kinda surprised me was Bally wants to dump the Twins (Comcast (I think maybe Charter, or both) refuses to raise prices to meet Bally's demands. But, they're fine with the Brewers over on the Bally North alternate channel Bally Wisconsin.

In a study funded by the A’s, Aguero’s firm projected 53% of the stadium’s annual attendees would come from beyond the city, and 30% of the estimated 405,000 out-of-towners would not visit Las Vegas without stadium events.
The A's ownership is claiming that 53% of the people going to A's games will be visitors. Insert snarky comment about how they're just moving the team and continuing the plan to suck for eternaty.

                      • Along with that, I've seen a lot of people jump on the idea that the A's would do 4pm local starts so patrons can do the game, then head out to do whatever in the evening.

So instead of becoming a Las Vegas team like the Knights, their plan is to be the Washington Generals for every MLB team who comes to town. Brilliant strategy.

                          *rolls eyes*

Can't wait for them to also schedule some Midnight start games to avoid the heat and attempt to draw the second shift employees to games...

                          • That's what you get when a team is run strictly as a business.

I guess they have seen how the Raiders have attracted a good chunk of out-of-towners and want to emulate that.

                            • One 4 seed through so far as Oral Roberts makes it to supers. Chance for another tonight as Penn has a second shot against Southern Miss after falling last night.

There’s the possibility for only five seeded teams to advance, which would be quite the contrast to softball where I think only two non-seeded teams advanced to supers. And there’s a bit of a Cinderella in Indiana State advancing, even as a seeded team. They have some past success but that was 30-40 years ago.
