      • Let's take a stab at this years standings. I will obviously be completely wrong. But, that makes it fun. Particularly because the East in both AL/NL are a total toss up.

AL East - 1. Tampa Bay, 2. Toronto, 3. Boston, 4. New York, 5. Baltimore
        AL Central - 1. Chicago, 2. Minnesota, 3. Kansas City, 4. Cleveland, 5. Detroit
        AL West - 1. Houston, 2. Seattle, 3. Los Angeles, 4. Texas, 5. Oakland

        NL East - 1. Atlanta, 2. New York, 3. Philadelphia, 4. Miami, 5. Washington
        NL Central - 1. Milwaukee, 2. St. Louis, 3. Chicago, 4. Cincinnati, 5. Pittsburgh
NL West - 1. Los Angeles, 2. San Diego, 3. San Francisco, 4. Colorado, 5. Arizona

AL Playoffs: 1. Chicago, 2. Tampa Bay, 3. Houston, 4. Toronto, 5. Boston, 6. Minnesota*
NL Playoffs: 1. Los Angeles, 2. Milwaukee, 3. Atlanta, 4. New York, 5. Philadelphia, 6. San Diego*

        * - I really have no idea who the last playoff spot will be in either league. I am sure 3 teams will be vying for each right till the end.

Mets right-hander Max Scherzer is dealing with hamstring tightness and said he isn't sure whether he will be ready to pitch when the regular season starts next week.

Supposedly not serious and only precautionary scratch today. Hopefully will go Opening Day.

Mets are making noises about possibly adding Paddack. Meh. Right now we go in with Scherzer / Bassitt / Carrasco / Walker / I dunno, Megill? That's a strong enough rotation to win if we hit and if we don't then it doesn't matter anyway.

Losing Jake is brutal emotionally, but it doesn't cripple the team in and of itself.

Buster Posey(after Willie McCovey he was my favorite Giant)retired, Kevin Gausman FA'd to Toronto and the infield all in their mid 30's they'll need everyone(voice of Gary Oldman in The Professional)to step up again. If Kapler can pull all the right strings again they should be able to compete with the Pads for 2nd in the division and a possible wild card. If Sean Hjelle(RHP)makes the roster he'll tie Jon Rauch at 6-foot-11 as the tallest player in major league history.
A bad cause requires many words.
