  • And why can't/didn't/won't cops defend her? That's what they're ****ing paid for.

If they don't wanna do their job, then quit, and do something else. Or be fired, Whatever. But just quit with the "oh well, nothing to be done".
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

      Thank you for summarizing Uvalde.

I can both demand more from the cops and defend myself.

      • That the people we've put in positions of authority and responsibility are worthless is a horrible, pathetic justification to allow effectively unfettered access to tools that kill 45,000+ Americans per year.

Sure, arm everyone. ORRR.... get police to do their ****ing jobs.

The next time people like you demand more from the cops will be the first time people like you demand more from the cops. Law enforcement has gotten away with being the biggest money pit for decades now. Cops are ****ing useless. The whole notion of our government is in large part for the protection of the citizens. It's high time people like you did something that was actually useful in supporting EFFECTIVE law enforcement besides flying a thin blue line flag.

They'll never do that. Effective law enforcement would also mean fair and equitable law enforcement regardless of background, race, or neighborhood of residence, and Republicans support double standards for minorities and the poor. When George Floyd was murdered by a cop over passing a counterfeit bill, it's NBD 'cause that drug-addled thug had it coming. When Bucks Bochenski passed a counterfeit back in the day, he lived, got a wrist slap, and now he's the ****ing mayor.

You seem to know so much about me ... that just isn't so. (<-- paraphrased and stolen from Reagan)

I've had more than a cup of coffee with the county sheriff pushing him on why he's pulled all the deputies back to reside in the county seat. There used to be deputies living in outlier towns in the county. Response time was better (it's just under an hour drive diagonally across the county). Community interaction was better. And the trucks (and kids) on the highways drove slower. The old way was more effective. He claimed it was to "save cost". I scoffed as I know rents are higher in the county seat and the sheriff's fuel budget went up after the change. And it has to mean more time holding a steering wheel, less time interacting in the communities and county schools. (I'm guessing that's what the deputies' desired outcome was and was accomplished.)

PS - He's the guy that told my friend who lives 45 minutes from the SO, after the change, to buy a shotgun (with specificity). Awesome.

Who better to serve in government than someone who thinks that if you need more money, just print more?
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

400+ LEOs responded and not one of them did anything. Imagine 400+ plumbers, welders, an electrician, foremen, and supers showing up to fix a toilet leak and then billing you OT only to have your basement flood. Why don't we expect more from our LEOs?

400 cops who can't save 19 kids from 1 gunman is OK with the right. But they complain about teachers and their unions for being ineffective even though there is one teacher trying to teach math to 40 kids, while working in an 80 year old building with faulty heat and air conditioning and not enough text books to go around and parents who work 4 jobs so they don't have time to be involved in their kids' schooling. All the while that teacher is worrying about the next school shooter and how he or she is going to protect his or her students because we all sure as **** know the cops ain't gonna do it.

The world is upside down and cops are ****ing useless. We literally could take half the money we **** down the toilet on law enforcement and give it to our schools and be better off.
