Cases per day for the country as a whole was fairly steady between early May and mid-June. While they have started to trend up, deaths per day have slowly been on the decline since early May. However 1) I don't trust the counts are being accurately reported in several states 2) Death counts will lag 3) It's very likely deaths per day will start to rise in the near future. Hopefully that won't happen.

I'm sorry if this is a medically stupid question but could we be getting better at treatment? I realize there is no cure, but could doctors be getting better managing symptoms so they don't develop additional problems that kill them?

Or, could we be getting better at identifying cases earlier, thus getting them into treatment at a relatively safer time?

I think it's a great question but I'm not in any position to answer. I wonder if les or WW have some insight on that.

Just cause people test positive doesn't mean they have to be hospitalized. Since most of the cases seem to be young people they most likely aren't in danger of dying.
