    The episodes will be restored once the hemlines change again.

    These phases come and go. This is another Hayes Code, except for good intentions this time. It will pass. The children of Gen Z will have their own weird sh-t to worry about. Like "how could they keep pets?!" or "old movies where they show showers trigger me for wasting water!"

    The evolution of every social horrible:

    1. What sin? (Lack of awareness)
    2. Holy f-ck, we were bad once. Snicker. (Birth of awareness) <-- this is probably the only time we are well-adjusted
    3. It's unacceptable to show that! (Hyperawareness)
    4. That was a long time ago. It's like they are Martians. (Banishment to "history")

    We are now in:

    Phase 1 with vocal fry.
    Phase 2 with poverty porn.
    Phase 3 with racism.
    Phase 4 with sexism.

      I willing to bet my bottom dollar it’s music rights. It’s a common story in all media rereleases today.

        There's a reason that it took decades for China Beach to make it to DVD, and it's still not available for streaming services. The music in that show as great Vietnam War era stuff, but the original contracts were rather limited in scope.

            Most of the issue with muppets is music rights yes. I believe there is one episode where a host ended up being convicted of having child pornography or something along those lines so they pulled that one for that reason.

              I'm assuming you mean after the fact and not as a plot to the episode, right?

                Yes, after the fact. A staff writer, Chris Langham, stepped in to host after Richard Pryor dropped out at the last minute. Langham was found guilty of possessing child pornography in 2007.

                  There is a Cheers Halloween episode where Gary as part of the prank wars rigs everything in the bar to play "Monster Mash". When it came to video and DVD (and streaming later on) they didn't have the rights to the song so it changed to something else. Completely ruined the joke.

                            Looking forward to watching Pelé on Netflix although I realize it's at best 50/50 it will be more intriguing than anything else I've already watched about him.

                              GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas have all had music cut from rereleases because of the same issues.

                              Heck, WWE blatantly edits their stuff all the time because of music rights issues.
