I can't do that; I'm immature and stupid. But better people than I should try that and also shun me.
I can but it depends on the context. I like knowing why people like things, especially if I don't. Gives me perspective and perhaps a way to see what is going on that I didn't understand. I try not to actively rip what people like beyond saying what I personally felt but that is "me" and their opinion is just as valid.

If I feel I can't do that I try and just shut up. Since I am rather blunt and quite honest it rubs people the wrong way so I just listen and move on. Sometimes I get baited though but not as much as I used to. It just isn't worth it.

Discussion is great...people who get off spitting on what other people enjoy just aren't worth the time anymore.

Of course I'm a fan of the Vikings. A sick and demented Masochist of a fan, but a fan none the less.

                      • The HBO documentary on the January 6 attack on the Capitol is a pretty good watch (Four Hours at the Capitol). A lot of interviews with people on the ground there that day, including a lot of Capitol police officers and members of Congress. Also, a ton of footage taken by "filmmakers" who honestly were pretty hard to distinguish from the insurrectionists.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

It's a perfect depiction of late-stage capitalism. It doesn't need a second season and I hope it doesn't get one. I'm surprised no one on the right has complained about its unflattering, slightly cartoony depiction of useless, morally bankrupt billionaires yet.

                            • So I skimmed through Squid Game, hitting the fast forward button a lot. Meh. Id give it a solid B. Well executed, some poignant moments, but I really don't get the hype. If you want violence porn, go watch a Saw movie. If it's the competition among the downtrodden angle, just on Netflix the 3% is a better show, IMO.

                              • Finally got around to watching the first 4 episodes of The Mandalorian. Already 10x than any of the last trilogy. Between Rogue One and this, the secret is not having a Solo or Skywalker, apparently.
