For those that have enjoyed Perry Mason, are any of you fans of the one from the 50s/60s? My dad loves that show and I'm wondering if he'd like the new one. I don't think the new one is anything like the original other than some names honestly. Its going to be a VERY different feel compared to the old one. The new show focuses on one case over the 8 episode season rather than a new case each episode. Obviously language, violence, and nudity are all present in the new one (it is HBO). So after finishing it up...probably a B overall. Entertaining, good action set pieces, some characters get developed and make you care, interesting cinematography/style, but also some massive gaping plotholes and too many details that are left unexplained. Rare for a K-drama to be rushed, but this was one that could've used an extra 2-4 episodes to flesh things out more. Like giving the Big Bad a reason for his Bond-villain-on-steroids act beyond just he's a rich douche with daddy issues.Originally posted by ScoobyDoo View PostComment

Dave continues to be a pretty good show. It is hit or miss, I won't lie -- it aint Atlanta. But there's some good stuff there. It's like a 2020s version of Fernwood 2 Night.Cornell University

Found out that all the UK Kitchen Nightmares are on YouTube and have been watching them here and there. I’d watched a couple of them before on Netflix, but that was years back. I forgot how calming it is. Ramsay still calls people ****wits and tells people to get their heads out of their asses, but it’s on a much more personal level. He’s actually talking to them instead of yelling. There’s no dramatic music, no sound effects. If there are scripted parts it certainly doesn’t give off that vibe. It feels like a documentary.
Compare that to the American version which is just a barrage of noise, each episode has almost the exact same plot points to where you know they’re scripting specific scenes, and Ramsay is playing up his Flanderized-self screaming at everyone. And Fox is apparently in the works to reboot it. I think the best comparison I read was the UK version is almost a business class for restauranteurs, while the US version is just a soap opera.Go Green! Go White! Go State!
