  • This is the first time in a while that I've genuinely looked forward to a TV show (The Last of Us) all week. I've looked forward to premieres but have mostly been let down. the last one where I can't wait all week was probably Mandalorian.
I gotta little bit of smoke and a whole lotta wine...

Pedro gave it his all, and the pre-recorded sketches, especially Mario, were great. The live sketches writing was pretty bad until the last couple. I dunno, maybe I have to admit I'm too old for the "here's what young people talk like and talk about" ones.

This. The pre-recorded stuff lately on every episode far outweighs the live stuff. He did a yeoman’s job with everything but overall the skits were pretty crappy.

          • I just don't agree. There have been weeks when the sketches were terribly written, but this wasn't one of them.

            • Well, we’ve established that we don’t agree. Cool

i barely watch the show so don’t see it week to week and have no idea how it compares

I saw a few of Aubrey plaza skits and like scarlet said, the best one was prerecorded

                  • I thought the live skits were actually more hit than miss, but I think we can agree there isn't a more annoying band/frontman than Coldplay/Christ Martin. jfc dial back just once trying to create the next epic anthem, and the annoying color coordination and now they have a mascot? And I love their first album Parachutes.

                    • Sometimes the musical guest on SNL is irritating or untalented, but Coldplay is muzak. We FF'ed just like it was a commercial.

We've been watching it regularly again for the last 3 years after not watching it for about 20. It's very uneven but the thing is even in the Golden Age and Silver Age, it was uneven. It's the nature of SNL. And then it is also uneven week to week because some hosts (Mulaney, Lizzo, Martin & Short, Pascal) are excellent while some (Teller, Harlow, Palmer, Butler) are lame.

Dr. Mrs jokes that there is an A team and B team of writers who alternate by week, because some weeks the skits seem to be unfathomably terribly written, while others are excellent. I swear they pawn off the bad backlog on lousy hosts and save the best material for good ones.

I hope they redeem themselves after Ep. 4.

Ep. 4 is what frustrates me about some of these series. This series has been terrific, and Ep. 3 will probably be the highlight of it, but then the writers go and give us something stupid like Ep. 4. It reminded me of the commercial that says that when you are in a horror movie, you do something stupid, because that is what you do. That is literally Ep. 4 in a nutshell.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.
