That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Strawberry, Mets Sink Brewers Again in Game 2
With right fielder Darryl Strawberry leading the charge, the New York 1988 Mets defeated the visiting Milwaukee 1982 Brewers, 8-4, in Game 2 of their playoff series today. Strawberry went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once at Shea Stadium to help New York 1988 take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Making an impact for the home team was David Cone. In the bottom of the sixth, the 1994 Pitcher of the Year Award winner had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 5-3, Mets.
"The rain was definitely not preferable," Strawberry said. "It worked out fine I guess, but we'll be happy if we see the sun next time."
Game 3 is set to be played in Milwaukee. The scheduled starters for the game are Ron Darling for New York 1988 and Pete Vuckovich for Milwaukee 1982.

Mets Hammered by Molitor, Drop Game 3 to Brewers
The Milwaukee 1982 Brewers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading New York 1988 Mets, winning 11-6 at County Stadium today. The win cuts the deficit facing the Brewers to 2-1 in the best-of-7 playoff series.
The Brewers took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Facing New York 1988 hurler Ron Darling with two outs, Molitor hit a 3-run home run.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Molitor.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at County Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Dwight Gooden for the New York 1988 Mets and Moose Haas for the the Milwaukee 1982 Brewers.

Game 5 was big. So was David Cone.
The New York 1988 starter rose to the occasion at County Stadium today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Mets to a crucial 7-1 victory over the Milwaukee 1982 Brewers. Cone threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball as the Mets won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Cone was effective for New York 1988, seldom allowing the Brewers to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 98 pitches over 7.2 innings. He limited Milwaukee 1982 to just 1 run on 4 hits.
"David did a tremendous job," said New York 1988 manager Jim Smith.
Game 6 is set to be played Saturday at Shea Stadium. Slated to start are Don Sutton for Milwaukee 1982 and Ron Darling for New York 1988.
