OK, so my fear of Atlanta beating LA and giving the Red Sox home field advantage with the possibility of me having the slightest chance of the having tickets to a potential World Series Game 7 series clinching game and not being able to go due to work has now dissipated given the collapse Tuesday, last night's awful loss and Atlanta now being one win away from the World Series. Just what I wanted for my birthday - a loss to close out the ALCS. Oh well.

Another post-season, another list of former Twins doing better than they ever did for the "Twin Cities" logo.

I am a super-huge proponent of just going to the electronic strike calling. Bryant Gumbel's show on HBO did a bit on it a few years ago, and it works marvelous. It doesn't slow the game down, it actually speeds it up because there is no complaining about the calls, or stepping out of the batters box to show your displeasure to the ump.
There will be plenty of other opportunities for home plate umps to still blow calls, like on missed check swings, so guys like Diaz will still be able to screw up games.Laz Diaz has always been terrible behind the plate.
