40% of America people, 40%. We won't win just because 60% of the people can occasionally use their brains. And those 40% are true believers who would drink bleach tonight if trump told them to. They've allowed trump to kill thousands of people who would not have died with a proper, aggressive federal response. Yet the few who will even admit 83,000 are dead will tell you it is Obama's fault, or maybe worse yet, won't give the first 5h!t. The rest will tell you the 83,000 would most likely have died from other ailments anyway. Just think of the damage these 40% will do once they decide violence will be needed to keep trump in power and begin to move in that direction. I can't WAIT for the fall. They probably won't ever be organized enough, but I fear widespread white supremacist terrorism this fall.

That's why the only pages I like/groups I join are local breweries/beer groups. It really streamlines stuff. No neighborhood groups, or SJW groups, or political groups, anything like that.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

I would hope that doctors are drawn from only the far left tail of that standard distribution: the 2 part. That is what I would assume every merit-filtered population, from astronaut to NASCAR driver, is. The bulk of even those well above the mean should be eliminated and the actual raw bottom half should never even be in a position where they could sneak under the wire. That would be the equivalent of credentialing a physics PhD who could not add or a Harvard undergrad who could not suck.

                Standards must be maintained.

I know, but I was kinda hoping the average kids don't graduate.

Cuz the thing is somebody graduates last in his class from MIT theoretical physics*. I'm guessing that person is still a genius.

                  * BTW it looks to me like if you are not interested in credit the entire MIT physics curriculum with all materials and lectures is available free online. So you too can get the equivalent of a PhD in Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen entanglement. All you need is a computer and time, where by time I'm thinking, oh, 30-40 years of serious study.

30 states with at least double figures deaths yesterday. Even with NY held under 200 it was still a 1600 day. Broadway run's over -- it's on tour.

I did the Shingrix vaccine after it came out. My doctor didn't really say anything about whether there was a length of time that it would be good for, so I just assumed it was like with MMR or polio, and that I wouldn't have to go back and do it again. However, in reading more about it, it seems like it's kind of unknown as to how long it might last.
THere are a couple of versions of the vaccine.

Without thinking too hard about it, what makes me (I hope) a good physician is:
                      1. I know what I know, and more importantly...
                      2. I know what I do not know

When I reach 2, I know who and where to get help from. I think the skill I have most honed in the last 10 years is correctly judging if someone knows what they are talking about.
You must spread rep. Absolutely agree. And if you don't think about # 2 then that is very scary! This is what I tell my students who are freaking about how much they think they don't know. Some of the MDs I have met over the years are idiot savants when it comes to regurgitating info or thinking of differentials but are completely oblivious to the human side or how it might be applied in real life.

FIrst tenet= do no harm. There are a few very public medicals that missed the ethics part of class.
