        • Right now, the average billionaire—there are about 790 of them or so in America—has an average federal tax rate of 8%. No billionaire should be paying a lower tax rate than a teacher, a firefighter, an electrician, or a police officer.

I’m still chuckling over the phrase “average billionaire.”
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Your reaction is similar to mine when I noticed all of the corporate sponsors at Ferndale Pride last summer, especially the really stiff industries like banking & finance. Where were all of you in 2005? It's one of the reasons why I find the social media sh*tpost "I Support the Current Thing" funny when it's applied to corporations suddenly discovering their progressivism in recent years with outward gestures of support for Pride Month, Black History Month, Women's History Month, Juneteenth, etc. "Slacktivism", I think it's called.
