So before, it was just a hoax, a way to bring down our president, 15 cases soon to be zero, people who get it might go through some process, but then be ok, to now its a victory if only 100-200,000 people die.

          Way to move the goalposts.

200,000 people die, and this dip**** is gonna hold a parade.

I've directed my staff to use any and all authority available to give restaurants, bars, and clubs incentive to stay open. You will lose all these restaurants, and they're not going to make it back, they're gonna have to get going. So what I'm doing, I'm going to tell Secretary Mnuchin and also our great Secretary of Labor, who you know very well, to immediately start looking into the restoring of deductibility of meal and entertainment costs for corporations. That set the restaurant business back A LOT when it was done originally, when it was done not so long ago, and we're going to go to deductibility so companies can send people to restaurants. I think it will have a tremendous impact, and maybe keep them open. Don't forget, some are closing right now despite the fact they could be open in the not too distant future, we expect that, but there are some that are not going to be able to get open and we want to make sure they do, so we are going to look at the restoration, restoring the deductibility of meals and entertainment costs for corporations so corporations can send people to restaurants and take a deduction on it like they did in the old days. That was when restaurants were doing really well.
Can I get a side of word salad with that? JFC.

So my wife’s hospital just put out a statement that will be posted at every entrance at badge-in. It basically says that by badging in your are asserting you aren’t sick and are safe to work. It read like a legal document the hospital is going to use crucify someone who infects patients or completely pass blame to the individuals instead of monitoring and working with them to ensure they’re ok to work. Other hospital systems are now requiring all employees wear masks inside the hospital regardless of where they’re working or job function.

For something that can be asymptomaticly spread, this is complete BS right? There’s no way this could legally hold up in court or be used for termination, right?

I know we’re all lawyers in here fully versed in employment law and pandemic precedents, but is this something she should be worried about?

Also attached, was a letter saying that asymptotic positive (recovered) employees would need to return to work and wear a mask 14 days after exposure. They’re citing the CDC recommendations for returning to work. Jesus. It’s like one of the larger hospital chains in MSP doesn’t understand you can still shed the virus after you’ve recovered, sometimes for weeks

I think most of the nurses in Twin Cities hospitals are unionized, so she might check on that. I assume the union would have something to say. Otherwise she is probably employed “at will.”
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Again, it’s possible. But with the contagion level that’s reported, surprising they kept it to the two of them.
Do you know what date they got symptoms?
I know you didn't, for sure. I was directing my frustration to the public health officials in the UP.

As for the specific date, no I don't know- I was told on the 20th. They just stuck it out at home, as they were told there was not test kits whenever they felt bad. And they do work for one of the big markets in the area (can't be specific) who I would bet they got the direction from.

I more feel sorry for the people who would be taking it seriously, had they been told. By the time I heard, we'd been working from home for a week, and it was a while since Governor Whitmer shut the state down.

Had they gone to the hospital, it would have been the one in Hancock (where I got 10 stitches in my knee almost 40 years ago...).

Just found out that my mom’s cousin and his wife in FL both have it. He’s in ICU and the family has given permission for experimental treatments while she is suffering at home alone. They’re about 30 minutes away from us, and there is literally nothing we can do to help - devastating.

F this disease and F anyone whose ever put stopping it as a lower priority than: poll numbers, re-elections, the Dow, the national debt, insurance company profits, stopping socialism, Spring Break, the next shift at the restaurant, family events, hanging out with friends, going out for a drink, and pretty much anything else right now.

We’re managing to stay at home with 2 kids under the age of 3. What’s your excuse?

                          Stay the F home.
                          Stop this Fing virus.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

The public health officials, doctors, teachers, MTU administrators etc have been deadly serious about it from the start. The only reason they didn’t test for it up until a week or two ago was because they couldn’t get the test kits. The downplaying of it has been from proudly ignorant Trumpers, same as anywhere else.

                                Thanks.

Unfortunately she’s not in a union and maybe thankfully she’s not a nurse. I told her I imagine the nursing union is going to push back on that. Especially given that other hospitals are requiring PPE.

She’s at will. I just didn’t know if this opens her up to legal jeopardy if she gets sick or something I’m not even seeing.
