      • Rufie is what happens when a liberal gets tired of trying to act nice and full-on adopts the Trumper, "Offend as many opponents as I can", "I'd rather be a Russian than a Democrat" mentality.

I have to admit that with every passing month, it's an increasingly tempting attitude to embrace.

            You could try starting, yourself.

Instead of always playing "gotcha" games by just asking the question.

North Carolina must immediately allow felons who are on parole, probation or supervised release to register to vote, a state court panel said on Monday. The ruling restores voting rights to a group of roughly 56,000 people that is disproportionately Black.

              • Dallas and Austin in Texas said "hey, it's hotter than Satan's taint. Mandatory water breaks for workers every four hours."

In a bill that probably won't pass, but deserves to be called out, Texas State Republicans are trying to outlaw cities from mandating water breaks for workers.

                  • On an update to a story discussed here awhile back, apparently South Dakota attorney general Jason Ravnsborg intends to enter into a plea agreement tomorrow in the case where he ran over the guy along the side of the road, left the scene, then later claimed he thought he hit a deer (even though the dead man's prescription glasses were on the front seat beside him).

Details of the plea were not disclosed today, but presumably will be tomorrow. However, as I recall, he was only charged with a misdemeanor, which was basically all he could be charged with under SD law.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Of course you have to believe in heaven and hell to believe that to be true. Unless, of course, you simply meant he'll spend his remaining days in South Dakota.

Sounds like he'll soon be out of a job. He resisted all efforts made to get him to resign, and an impeachment effort went nowhere. However, sounds like a former AG is going to run against him next year, so he'll likely be sent packing.

                          • If you can't impeach a guy who hit someone and killed them, lied about it and then was charged for it...why do you have Impeachment as an option in your state?

Probably the same reason we have it at the Federal Level.
