"We are counting on Regions 6 [Northern Lower Peninsula / Traverse City] and 8 [Upper Peninsula] to get it right."

And most recently: Everyone wants to go up North for Memorial Day weekend. We all want to. Just... try not to, but if you do, bring your groceries with you. Don't venture out beyond your summer homes. Maintain social distance.

As you saw from F2B&G, those are the technical details.

Likely both. It had that feel of when your parent stares at you disapprovingly while peering over their glasses.

If they get good weather next weekend and a bunch of downstaters head up north...woo boy; have fun enforcing that 50% capacity rule.

I have perfected this look with my daughter. The best times are when it stops her mid-sentence.

Maybe those sheep could donate that money to something that actually helps. Lots of nurses could use a few extra bucks and man it would be nice if it went to masks. Donating it to a bunch of yokels so they can break the law and put hundreds at risk doesnt seem to make a whole lot of sense.

The picture with the story is the exact reason WHY we need to fight crap like this.

I think there is an obvious medical argument as to why people should stay home, or at least not go out to a crowded bar.

On the other hand, I don't fault the bar owner.

Small businesses are in a tough spot. For most small business owners, the business itself is their retirement. There's no pension. They aren't putting thousands away into a 401k. Their hope is that they can make enough to live on during their working lives, then sell the business for a few bucks when they hit 65 or 70, and use that cash and their social security to live on the rest of their days. To just instantly have that gone through something that they don't control is pretty tough.

Furthermore, when a small business goes belly up financially, it takes the individual with it. If you're a small business owner, you don't have a loan with the bank or a commercial lease that doesn't also require you to sign a personal guaranty. That's just a fact of life.

Thus, when the business fails, the individual gets wiped out too, even if they had something set aside, which usually they don't because they tapped that money to try to keep the business alive.

It's got to be a pretty bad time for those people.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

You dont fault the bar owner for breaking the law and putting people at risk? It isnt like this is some lame blue law from the 1890s he is acting in direct defiance of the Executive Leader of the State. (whom I am guessing he didnt vote for which is really why he is doing this) No offense but his small business is not more important than the rule of law.

I feel bad for him that times are tough...but suck it up buttercup you live in a society and that society is governed by laws. If he was being unjustly persecuted I would back his civil disobedience but that isnt the case. He is being a child and if one person gets sick because of his stunt I hope he gets sued so badly his great grandkids are in bankruptcy still. We dont need this state to be Wisconsin and we both know he wasnt going to enforce any sort of COVID restrictions...he cant be trusted because he is literally breaking the rules already. And his customers dont look like they will do it even if he asks them too.

I am sorry, I try to be reasonable but it is time to call a spade a spade. His selfish needs do not (pun intended) trump the rest. Just because he is struggling doesnt mean he gets to just decide he is not subject to the rules. If he doesnt like Walz's order fight it the right way or get the phuck out.

And 3/4 of the #openitup crowd wouldnt be fighting for his rights if he owned a bar in North Minneapolis so it is all hypocritical anyways.

Pretty easy to sit in the comfort of one's home, pretending to teach kids online, collecting a full paycheck, and tell people who are about to lose everything they've worked for, all of their retirement, their only source of income, and in some instances maybe even their home, to "suck it up."

Well, you know, if the hundreds of millions of dollars billionaires bribe Congress with went to charity instead, and their taxes were also set correctly so we could afford to run a decent country...

... but a majority said "no" to all that in 1980. Reagan proved there are just enough greedy and stupid people in America to make it hell for everyone else. The slight "solace" is 90% of those people are also in misery because of their short sightedness.
