Also, no police department. They use the Anoka County Sheriff.

Wait, this is still going on? I thought they changed it years ago.

They did. Then the aforementioned doorknobs decided it would be a good use of money to fight it.

Someone filed a case that it was done without proper authority. SC ruled today that they do so now it happens again

The comments in the Strib aren't as juicy as I thought they'd be yet. Perhaps I just need to give it a couple of hours...

For those that aren't familiar with the story, an effort (now successful) was made to change the name of the lake from Calhoun to the tribal name due to the fact that the "Calhoun" in question was John C. Calhoun, a man with questionable views (to put it mildly) on issues such as slavery.

I have to admit that I laughed, though, at the comment in the Stib that said, "I thought they just should have renamed it after a different Calhoun." That's pretty funny.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

It'll get there. Probably too busy ranting about that pinko Walz stealing their freedumbs to notice yet.

Looks like Katie Hill resigning handed the GOP a House seat back in an all mail election.

                      Democrats sleeping in again.

That wasnt it...the Dem was doomed because of their position on Independent Contractors. (kind of a hot issue right now) I believe they will both run again against each other as this only fills out the rest of Hills term.

Will their respective positions on independent contractors change in six months, or will the issue become any less significant then? Not very far away.

If you lost by a dozen, what good is it for the Dems to run the same person in a district you won by 9 in 2018?

If I'm not mistaken I think Cali had a primary that was filled with candidates and the two winners were awarded the spots in the special election (for the rest of this term) and the November election (for a new two year term.)
