There is no connection. Of course the people saying this also said California should have swept away the brush to avoid all the wildfires and blamed that on Dems too so there ya go.

I never thought I would appreciate the energy company where I live, but I now appreciate them. At least DTE's power outage map tells me how long the power has been out and tries to give a restoration time (that time often changes, but at least it's something).

Watching this play out from Michigan while my family is in Houston without power and nothing I can do from here to help is nerve-wracking. Also, why isn't my parent's land line working? I thought those things were supposed to work even when the power is out.

Renewables overall make up barely 18% of ERCOT power sources. The fossil fuel plants and nuke plants failing in the cold are what caused this issue.

Jesus Christ, talk about using an ellipsis to change the context of the quote.

I said their primary sources of electricity are wind and natural gas. Natural gas makes up 40-45% of their generating capacity, and wind is second at 15-20%. Together that's 55-65%, which would be most. Coal has fallen off a cliff, and nuclear is holding steady.
