Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already
how awesome that the deciding Supreme Court vote forcing Wisconsin to go to the polls today was cast by the guy who was so blackout-drunk all the way through prep school and college that he can't remember how many women he assaulted. it really makes one proud to be an American

But mail-in ballots can be compromised! The GOP made sure to illustrate that in NC!

Originally posted by Rover View PostI agree. Although I don't blame Wisconsin's governor for this, I'm curious if he expected a different outcome. If he was expecting A) the GOP legislature to do the right thing, or B) the GOP courts to do the right thing, and he didn't have a backup plan that's a problem. Calling up the National Guard to man polling places is a good idea but it seems every move he made was kind of last minute and that gives the courts an easy excuse to rule against him. Start planning NOW (absentee ballots mailed out, maximum # of polling places available, etc) for the November election.
It is true, as somebody mentioned, that the awful SCt decisions arising out of this mess could anger and motivate Ds this fall. The margins are likely so thin that it is difficult to know at this point. It is not difficult to tell whether people's voting rights and lives have been put at risk. I'm embarrassed it is happening in my state. It does, however, give me and others I know even more reason to hit the phone banks and knock on doors this fall.

Next time I give a talk on White Flight and someone asks me if the “suburban secession” politics are still alive in the state, I’m just going to press play on this utter bat****tery. https://t.co/XtdZ7hK8AQ

Ooh, I love this. WI's assembly speaker Robin Vos, the man most responsible for forcing voters between their health and their ballots, is the prez of the National Council of State Legislatures. This new site lets you contact YOUR legislator & ask them to call on Vos to resign! https://t.co/DQb9s5aQbl
