        • It won't just be about vaccines. Civil War 2 will be driven by warring cultures, just like the last one. Rural vs. Urban (with the suburbs choosing sides based on wealth and/or religiosity). Theocrats vs. Technocrats. 19th century Christofascists vs. the educated, 21st century world.

It's the Enlightenment all over again. 40% of our population is mentally living in the 16th century. They missed several memos, starting with the division between church and state.

It isn't just here. It's global. Only the percentages are different.

            Anglosphere: 60% civilized, 40% uncivilized
            Western Europe: 70/30
            Eastern Europe: 30/70
            Middle East: 1/99

I don't know about the rest.

It's simplified, but the conflict is cause of the internet.

Those percentages have probably stayed the same for most of the 1900's... Higher education rates have eaten away at DERPS slightly, but it's been a small creep over time.

Once we hit the early 2000s, the internet allowed the shy, gay person in Alabama to reach out and connect with someone of similar beliefs in NYC. That gave the person in AL confidence to be who they are and break the Jesus****istan mold. Conversely it allowed out bat**** crazy uncles to connect with other people who think that the moon landing was faked and that vaccines carry microchips to connect with other ****wits.

That's the thing that has triggered our current situation.

The Venn Diagram of people who are anti-vaxx and those who rail for mandatory drug testing for welfare assistance is a perfect circle.

I think there is a lot of truth to this. The internet turned over all the rocks.

We have also reached a point where the civilized are asserting themselves. For a long time public space was pitched to the lowest common denominator. That is where the most dollars were for advertisers, and it was easier for the civilized to pay lip service to the masses than it would have been for the masses to tolerate anyone different than they. There were pockets of civilization in cities and universities and we stayed within them. The orcs didn't know about us so they belived the whole world was as derpy as they.

With the internet it's easy for rabble rousers to lift different cultures out of context and present them to the masses mockingly or as a threat. The boobocracy can't stand heterogeneity because it threatens the absolutism of their worldview: if it isn't white Christian and down home then it's evil and must be eradicated. Cynical politicians and demagogues run with this and become rich and powerful by fomenting the blind resentment of the hayseeds.

We're asking the derps to grow up after they have been children for 10,000 years, and they just aren't up to it.

US Capitol Police arrested a man armed with a bayonet and machete in his truck near Democratic National Committee headquarters early Monday morning
I wonder who he voted for...

Officers on patrol noticed the Dodge Dakota pickup truck around midnight on Sunday. Police say the truck didn't have a license plate but instead a picture of an American flag.
The officers pulled over the truck and noticed a bayonet and machete, which are illegal in the District of Columbia. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Donald Craighead of Oceanside, California, was arrested. The arrest comes while law enforcement officials are already bracing for potential clashes and unrest during an upcoming right-wing rally on Saturday in Washington, DC, according to an internal Capitol Police memo reviewed by CNN last week.
                              ...Nevermind.
