If someone like him starts coming around, it's a sign of worry for R's.
Yeah, he's a friend. He's definitely not a trumper. He takes more of a leave me the **** alone approach to politics. Which I can respect. He doesn't wish ill on anyone.

like fade says, I wouldn't call him a progressive. Probably center right. MNS and SOH can probably correct me if I'm wrong.

edit: actually, I don't even know if I'd call him center right. He's much closer to libertarian than anything

So it will be interesting to see if any of that changes minds over medicare for all. I doubt it, but watch this space- there is more to it than deaths.

And to fully appreciate this, you need to read his column from back in 2016, before Trump had even secured the Repub nomination. It's like he travelled back in time from 2021 to write it.

                    • Those counties dont have a lot of people...losing even a few people could have major ramifications in any election that is close. The stats for Flo(R)ida with DeathSantis is the best example.

True. There just aren't any competitive districts anymore, so it doesn't matter for the House, and may not matter for State delegates.

It matters for statewide and the President, though.

That's kind of where I was going with this. It's people like him, Swansong, and others who may lead "conservative" lifestyles, but realize the damage that electing them will cause. Swing votes like that will decide our fate over the next 10 years.

And it won't matter if they suppress enough minority votes and/or change the law to have their R-dominated state legs in charge of elections so that they can vote to overturn or just not certify the results. Michigan's 2022 elections will be one of the first big tests for this plot, with all the major state offices on the line.
