That was certainly my wife’s experience working with Russians at a physics lab in Japan. Americans are supposed to be known as “cowboys” and “rugged individualists” and “outside the box” thinkers, but MacGyver has nothing on the Russians. They could get the particle beam back on line with 2 paperclips and a wad of duct tape - because they’ve done that exact thing dozens of times. Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poverty is the grandpappy of necessity. When you’re always on a shoestring budget, you get pretty good at tying your shoes.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

    • Kind of working on a whim here: Would anyone possibly have a recommendation on a Friday Fish Fry? Heading on the road in a few hours to Mankato for the CCHA Championship and figure it's worth a stop on a Lent Friday in Paint Thinner Nation. Looking for something convenient to I-90/94 in Madison or LaCrosse.

Sounds very exotic to midwesterners like me who rarely leave the country.

          Other than Olive Gardens.

Got ya. Samui is where we honeymooned - love it there. Hopefully phuket isn't overly crowded for you. Hua Hin has great diving FYI. We're going to Rayong and Chantaburi. Before and after Myanmar.
