Thanks, I saw that ship on the news as it stopped in Eastport. I hope you didn't get off I think it normally would have stopped in Bar Harbor(acadia) but they put a limit on cruise passengers per day. Too many people in DownTown area as it is.

I went on land for about an hour, taking pictures of your pretty buildings. I didn't go downtown and I didn't personally contribute anything to the Maine economy. Then I went back on board, got drunk, and watched Back to the Future in a hot tub. It still holds up. Lorraine was hot; Marty should have hit it and never looked back.

I live about 120 miles west of Eastport, place used to be a thriving community. Sardine plants ruled. Now its like a lot of other places in Maine, ghost town where the average age of the citizens is over 60. You should have gotten some Rayes Mustard while you were there though. The last thing related to the Sardine industry still going. They grind the mustard on granite wheels. Its good stuff. I do have a customer down there or used to anyway. Haven't been there in a few years which is fine by me.

            • I know a lot of people here have been to Lake Placid, but it’s pretty nice here. Even in a light rain.

How is it out there? Greenland has been on my wish list for quite a while now, and I'm really curious about what it’s like to explore such a unique destination. I’ve been looking into travel options and even checked bc ferries reservations, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like they offer trips to Greenland. It’s a bit disappointing, but I’m determined to find another way to get there. I’ve heard the landscapes are breathtaking, with stunning glaciers and incredible wildlife.

                    • Some help needed please!

despite living in Europe multiple times, I’ve only been back once in the last decade

I’m going to Strasbourg, France next month to meet up with family. Gonna be quick- like a 5-6 day trip. I have like 300k points on chase to use for travel so I will likely do that since I’m unemployed and well, those points won’t increase in value.

I have a lot of options. Want a big airport not direct into strasbourg. I could fly into Frankfurt (leading candidate) or Munich, Zurich, or Paris I guess.

I can book united, American, British air, aer lingus, Iceland, Lufthansa.

I still have a family member very high up at delta so I was gonna ask him his thoughts…but given the trip is so short I want to minimize getting stuck in connections as much as I can.

                      • Lufthansa now offers direct from MSP to FRA although Lufthansa customer service has been abysmal the past few years.

Id recommend that and then a train down to Strasbourg. You can also book the train at the same time as your flight via LH.

The benefit to flying an EU based airline is that you're eligible for compensation on both legs of the journey in case of delays, whereas it's only on the return for non-eu.

                            • A short visit with family in DC, and we took a few hours to hike a little at Great Falls. Nice and very interesting walk.

Ive settled on my route after my delta fam member advised me. Which I’m grateful for- I was debating delta via dtw or klm via ams. His first question on Detroit was “is it a330 or 767-400? Because Detroit only has one 767 and if it has an issue, you’re kaput. If it was the airbus they have backups.

so I’m flying Amsterdam to Munich. Worst case things go south in Amsterdam I just hop on a train to strasbourg. I’ve never explored Munich so here we go
