If Red Bull actually had some good driver choices (talk about the proverbial the cupboard is empty), Perez would have been toast a long time ago. The fact that he could still be toast with such poor choices to replace him shows you how horrible Perez has been. My wife said yesterday I should raise my hand at this point...

    • Having seen drivers get canned for being bad only for them to show up someplace else and do well tells me that the Perez issue isn’t fully on his shoulders. Sure, he’s not doing as good as before- but how much of that is because of team led issues? Meaning that changing drivers isn’t going to likely do much.

That's always a question for the number two driver at Red Bull no matter wow the number one driver is.

Is that because the car is tailored to Max?

I’ve seen a few people say this is why Sainz trying to jump to Red Bull might not be in his best interest. That and apparently the dads don’t like each other.

Note I said no matter who the number one driver is. Same thing happened with Vettel (just ask Webber). The whole team is always focused on their number one. The number two driver be d*mned.

My impression of Sainz Sr. is he could wipe the floor with Jos. He's not a wife to be face-slammed into a counter.

I'd kinda like to see that.

He’s a much, much, much more important driver than Jos. A real legend.

Let alone, not a total a hole.

                    • Great defending by Lewis today on Max. Ended up with Max attempting another rage move that burned him again.

McLaren somehow turned a great day into drama. Pitting Norris before Piastri and then spending 20 laps begging Norris to give the lead back.

One more race before summer break. Red Bull has looked more and more vulnerable and Perez didn't help himself with a crash in Q1.

Hope that max really gets into the faces of the race stewards. So the penalty becomes time and points.

Why did Norris have to acquiesce to team orders? That was bull****. “ I know you’ll do the right thing?”Norris should have fired back “I race to win!” And stood on the gas like Senna.

                          • Going to watch the replay, but I'm betting McLaren had a real gentlemen's honor of who is ahead in corner one. Reminding all of us that Lando really, really, really needs to work on his starts.

Got it. That’s exactly like Senna/Prost, but I don’t well, I think Senna disregarded the agreement and that cemented the end of that relationship between drivers.

I think that's exactly what they had. First pit stops they were already telling Lando his race was with Max even though he was only three or so seconds behind Piastri.

Team orders are team orders, but I can't blame Lando for being upset. It's not his fault they called him in first when it was clear the undercut was working better all day. Or that Piastri went off track twice. Or that Lando was faster the final third of the race when both had clean air. And then they spend a half hour guilt tripping him into swapping positions when he's the one who's closer in the WDC and either way they finished would yield the same WCC results.
