    • A rare Red Bull misstep in the pits. That was going to be another routine Max pole to pole and it cascades into a Russell win.

      • So much for “mature max”. Same driver, dad, and team leadership as ever. Who would have thought.

I figured once the pressure was on, he would revert to his old ways. To me, Red Bull's (specifically Horner's) reaction was more dispicable.

I didn't get to watch the race till last night. My wife, who read about it, kept waiting silently for my reaction because she knew what was coming. :-)

Meanwhile, at the SCCA Regional at Watkins Glen yesterday, the Formula Vee race was decided by 0.009 seconds!

Horners reactions sure makes the accusations against him a lot more believable.

                No surprise.

Now, the real question marks need to be answered. When will Sainz make up his mind (and reports say Williams told him they are not waiting for his decision and are talking to other drivers)? And where to? Once that domino falls, who ends up in the remaining second seats for Williams, Audi, Alpine, and Haas?

Some interesting stuff going on with EV racing. My questions would be how do you refuel/charge them during a race and how safe are they if you wreck one at 200 mph?

Have you been paying attention to Formula E which has been around for like 10 years? EV racing is not new. FE cars have been crashing at high speeds for that long. Heck, the very first race they ran saw a high speed flying wreck which went viral.

I worked the last NYC E-Prix event in Brooklyn a couple of years ago. The first race had a sudden downpour on half the track (luckily, not the half I was at...) causing a massive high speed pileup. Search for it on YouTube. It hurts just watching it. (I love one of the radio calls from the corner worker captain, "Send everything!")

As for recharging, FE was supposed to debut a quick charge technology last year. Still haven't worked out the kinks... But, they will get there eventually. It was supposed to be a five-minute charge to finish the race, and I assume a longer race than they run now.

What happened to Osama bin Russell? One minute he was in 4th, the next pfft retired without explanation.

Water system failure. Ironic to have a water problem in a wet race.

I presume that means they had a leak that was seen as a loss of pressure.

Ah. Thanks. If they had correctly diagnosed could they have done anything?

They did do something. They retired the car instead of grenading the motor. Other than that, can’t really fix a leak mid race.

                              • Despite having signed a two year extension, Perez is in violation of a performance clause in his contract that could see him let go by summer break.
