Until it looks like it could cost them a championship. RBR has a reputation for a very short leash, even with a contract.

But more than performance, Perez brings a lot of money to pay max. Sponsors are pretty awesome.

Checo doesn’t win. Or even perform that well in a historically dominant car. Bottas was always #2 to Hamilton, but he’d win a few times a year. He wasn’t perfect, and he’d sometimes end up 14th or whatever, but at the very least he qualified well. I forget the streak but it was multiple years of making Q3. I like Checo, I want him to do better, especially since RB has actively strategized against him in some races to give Max a win, but he is awful at qualifying and gets saved by the race pace of the RB to climb back into the top ten on Sundays.

As Vandal said though, and as I’ve read more on it, he does bring in a lot of sponsor money and Mexico loves him.

Next year will be interesting. I saw there are still like 10 open slots including both drivers for many of the backmarker teams. Could be a lot of new faces next year.

Good job George to do it on used tires. Wonder what happened to him and Lewis when they put the new ones on and were both slower. Like they both overdrove the car.

Not even the closest in F1 history.

1997 European Grand Prix had three drivers finish dead even.

              • New IndyCar deal is a huge win for fans. Every race is going to be on Fox and practice/qualifying will be on FS1/FS2.

I’m sure NASCAR got more money by putting races across tons of channels/platforms but to me this seems like another blow for them in the longer term.

                • Hopefully they bring in a better production team for Indy. NASCAR on Fox is so subpar compared to NBC’s broadcast.

Considering FOX once owned Speedvision, I'm confident they know how to put on a serious race series broadcast. Plus, I read that the guy in charge of FOX sports is a huge Indy car fan. Grew up in Indiana and owns a permanent trailer near the track where he goes to party every Indy 500. He'll make sure this isn't screwed up.

Knowing how to vs. actually doing it are not really the same thing. Especially when you look at the change to Speedvision they put into place.

                      We will see.

Still think the more important thing for Indycar is a more consistent schedule. I've seen a handful of laps of a race this year (not going to count the 500, since that was reasonably easy) as they keep moving around when the race actually is run over a weekend. And given NASCAR's schedule, I don't see this getting better at all.

And a lot of it obviously comes down to finances.

I don’t think there is much overlap between Fox’s NASCAR weekends and IndyCar weekends so schedule shouldn’t be an issue(Fox has five fewer nascar weekends next year.) I’m just grateful it won’t be on streaming.

Pretty much what most people expected for Newey.

Fox is fine for 2025 but it’s going to be a real mess in 2026 having to navigate around the World Cup. You’re looking at over a month in the middle of summer with no races.

                              SI says Ferrari.

"Eddie Jordan has negotiated a contract for Adrian Newey to join Scuderia Ferrari to effectively head up its Formula One design department, although exact job titles have not been confirmed.

"The deal, signed just before the Miami Grand Prix, is $105 million for three years, 2025 to 2027.

"Jordan is believed to have received $5m commission for doing the deal which will be paid by Newey. The deal is a 50 per cent uplift on Newey’s salary at Red Bull.

"Newey’s new contract was orchestrated by Irish solicitor Dermot O’Rourke and signed in London on Monday April 29."
