Wow. If Newey goes RBR will fall back to earth.

Jos Verstappen is an idiot. And doesn’t he have baggage of his own?

      • A taste of the speculation:

You hit the nail on the head I think. Horner wants a piece of the pie, which is understandable. This part is pure speculation, but my guess is he went to the Thai side who backed him, but they wouldn’t be giving up shares, it would come from the Austrian side. Austrian side realizes this is the tipping point, if we don’t get Horner out now before he gets shares all the power we worked so hard to get is gone. Honestly after thinking about it as much as Jos shouldn’t say it, he may be right. If they continue on this course the team is going to be ripped apart from the inside

And yet F1 TV just went over 10 million subscribers for the first time.

            • So the rumors getting stronger about the strife at RBR.

this may be a controversial take but I’ll say it with respect to rumors of Max to Mercedes. Max is no Ayrton Senna, he doesn’t have the ability to take a lesser car and beat someone with a superior car.

Adrian Newey is the straw that stirs the drink at RBR. If HE follows Max out then I would bet Mercedes will be back on top. But if Newey stays I think RBR will be just fine and who knows, maybe they pull Alonso over for his 3rd title shot?

Verstappen is very good but I hesitate to put him up with Jim Clark and Senna to this point. If he goes to Mercedes sans Newey we’ll find out what he’s really got vs the field in terms of raw talent.

              • Things I have heard is if Horner goes, so does Newey. And he’s been in this long enough to retire. I don’t see any other team giving him the same kind of power Horner gives him.

And if Newey really wants a challenge to put him as the GOAT, Ferrari over Mercedes.

Heck, go to Haas. Like when Herb Brooks went to St. Cloud State when they were still D3.

PLENTY of teams would give Newey power, money and whatever he wants, he is that good. Lawrence Stroll for one would have lots of dollars stuffed in a bag to give him.

And it was pointed out that the day Bearman was born the day Alonso finished 2nd in the Spanish Grand Prix. But he's a good driver.

                        • Hoping to watch the Indycar race today, but thanks to the series not making any sense in terms of schedule, I missed another Indycar race. F1 used to be a 1pm start and is now 2pm local. So why did Indycar think a 12:30 start makes any sense?

The lack of a regular schedule is what made me miss all of last season, they have started off on the same foot.

Supposedly, the racing is supposed to be good. But I'm not sure when I'll be able to actually see a race (and don't tell me to record it, I watch races live, not on replay).

                          Frustrating.

                            • We've talked about the Singapore 2008 incident before, but Masa has officially filed suit on Monday.

Just saw a video reviewing any new info about it- and he pointed out the most obvious penalty- strike Alonso from the result. How can you take away a race that was totally run, the teams put all the effort and money into running the race, the fans were there, and there was prize money awarded? It makes a lot more sense to just take Renault from the result.

They didn't eliminate the McLaren drivers from the 2007 results, just the team championship. So can't really delete a race that happened. But eliminating the driver from the results? That's happened quite a few times over time. And is a very logical penalty.

Which gives Rosberg another win, and makes Hamilton's (he would have been 2nd) 2008 championship a little easier.

There are rules in the FIA which allows them to nullify a complete race.
