Me neither. I somehow missed both Goonies and Gremlins and now I mix them up. I think I missed every movie made when I was in college and grad school (1981-1988).

I did see Gremlins as well as (I suppose this tangent could go on forever) Stand By Me.

My problem there is I saw one scene where the wives are whining, and I just can't. It's one of those movies that would probably be immeasurably improved by deleting every scene containing a woman or a child.

Only* The Thing got this right.

              * Also: Glengarry Glen Ross, The Great Escape, 12 Angry Men, My Dinner with Andrea, Sleuth.

You and Kepler should go to the box and feel shame.

I am going to see them as a double feature sometime. I believe TCM actually had them in alignment but I messed up. Or it was a channel with commercials and yeah f-ck that.

12 Angry Men is one of my favorite movies of all time. I could watch it every time it came on TMC. But we don't have that channel anymore. To me, what made Women Talking so good was how similar it was to 12 Angry Men- in all of the good reasons.

(never saw goonies, too... nor Encino Man- but all of the Raiders franchise, for sure)

                      • She. It comes to 12 Angry Men, I think the remake was much better than the original. They’re largely the same movie with slightly different socio-topical spins, I think the acting in the remake was much more lifelike regarding personal interactions to depict a jury of peers deliberating.
"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command." George Orwell, 1984

"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its Black Gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep, and the Great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust, the very air you breathe is a poisonous fume." Boromir

"Good news! We have a delivery." Professor Farnsworth

I'll chalk this up to Opinions Vary, but IMO 12 Angry Men is one of the best written, acted, and directed movies of all time. As close to perfection as Hollywood ever got.

Didn't even know there was a remake.

                              • So I'm watching Shaft's Big Score, and the final 30 minutes is one continuous chase scene involving Shaft, a hot chick, the cops, a drug gang, a numbers runner, a crooked politician, the mafia, a mustang, a caddy, a cherry red 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle, a speedboat, a helicopter, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

                                I was highly entertained.
