    Only for chicks. Boys could be ugly. Bogart, Borgnine, Cagney, a ton of leading men looked like Doghouse Riley.

    Women find other stuff than looks attractive. That's why guys can be 40 and a sex symbol but for a girl to pull that off she has to be Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida or some other incredibly large-chested Italian.

      Blockbusters will never be a problem. You prime the lowest commoin denominator pump with ads and you create a blockbuster. In 1990 nobody gave a sh-t about comic books. 2 billion dollars in marketing later you can wipe you *** with celluloid, put Marvel on the can, and you make 100 million dollars.

      Film goes through phases, each of which is destroyed by greed. We had the star system, then the indy directors, and now the point-and-click CGI machine. The next phase looks like micro-targeted home streaming. It will around for a generation to suck people dry, and then the next gimmick will come in. And each decade will leave a handful of movies people will still watch in 50 years, and almost none of them will have been blockbusters.

        Ernest is always the choice for mookie when people ask who would play you in a movie.

                  For most things released to the theater, you need to put a large number of buttes in the seats. Small movies will have a place, but they will remain in the minority while the Marvel, DC, Star Wars, etc. will keep being made. They’ll be bigger, more finely crafted (technically), and something that really needs to be seen in the theater at least once.

                  Netflix, etc. will be better suited for the niche stuff. Speaking of which, I recommend The Social Dilemma. I don’t think any single point is all that surprising, but when it’s wrapped together like that it’s fairly powerful. And some of the drama bits they added to the documentary were funny, especially the name of the extremist group used to lure in the one kid.
