Actually China plays that role. Post Pandemic, very few American movies are getting release dates over there.

I thought we made all our movies with them in mind now, with entire sections of movies shot around Chinese characters and subplots which are ignored in the US releases, while many of ours are ignored in theirs.

I cant wait for the red state release of Barbie in which the Patriarchy wins and Barbie finds Jesus and gets a boob job.

        • I found Not Another Teen Movie on Netflix.

This is a must see for a Sunday afternoon.

          • Don't know how I missed it but I watched the 2016 version of The Magnificent Seven. Though it was pretty good.

            • Superman: Red Son.

A lot to like, particularly the aesthetics of the first third. It gets more and more silly and the last third is just balls out stupid, but it's fun.

              • With nothing new for broadcast TV , I decided to track down some free 4k viewing to put the new TV through it's paces, and finally saw Top Gun: Maverick.

What a hot mess of a movie. When it wasn't just rehashing the first movie, it was stealing plot from Star Wars: A New Hope. I mean, not just the final mission, but the whole thing: old Jedi Master(I mean, Navy pilot) must train the son of his dead best friend in the ways of The Force(I mean, aerial combat)

                Dreadful movie.

this year alone with black mirror and Oppenheimer. I think he’s underrated in Oppenheimer too (easy to get lost in that cast) but I’m also probably biased from our catholic school history together
He was not good when he was young. Just a pretty face. Much like Anson Mount.

Both much better as older, more mature actors. Hartnett was really good in Penny Dreadful, and Mount was excellent in Hell on Wheels.

Or the few that still don't realize the movie was not accurate and claim that without them, Oher would never have played football and not gotten good enough to be drafted...

                    • TIL Machete Kills... In Space is going to be an actual movie. And it happened exactly the way Machete became a real movie: a fake trailer that was so wildly popular it eventually was breathed into the world by the power of fan service and joyful, unrestrained greed.

                      Good.

Also, Danny Trejo has 420 IMDB credits. Nice.

                      • Barbie overtakes Avengers Endgame for the Alamo Drafthouse highest grossing film in their history.

I laugh because the Drafthouse is where a bunch of dudebros got mad because they had a special "women's only" screening of Wonder Woman.

                        • If there were any justice*, Barbie would blow away all the MCU trash and become the all-time leader. But without looking my guess is it isn't even within a power of 10.

Currently 17th. Needs about $200 million to crack top 10

Adjusted is still dominated by Gone With The Wind and except for Titanic, nothing after the 90s. I didn't see Barbie on the adjusted list I found, but should probably fall somewhere around 30-40th I think.

I looked it up and they are actually up to half, not 1/10th.
