Yeah it is interesting (and friggin prescient on many levels) but since it is a "Part 1" they just started way too many stories and a bunch of them weren''t needed. The big one being Haley Atwell whose character was just a stupid waste of time and an obvious tipping of a plot point later. (not to mention I found her performance pretty flat and lame) The main story I think is great and Esai Morales is always a fave of mine I just wonder if they needed like every side character to be double or triple crossing everyone. Its convoluted and most of the time was revealed and ended so fast they could have honestly just skipped it. The big one being Carey Elwes which was stupid because he is stopping Kitritch from getting it. Their motives are both the same and different and it just gets so messy.

I have faith that Part 2 will be awesome and make Part 1 better overall I just found this one to be lacking whereas the previous 3 had been so much better balanced and fun.

BTW, Tom Cruise is now older than Jon Voight was in the first film if I read right :^o

Oh and Tom Cruise tried to lobby the AMPTP on the AI issue and how dangerous it is...talk about meta!

BTW the WGA and SAG-AFTRA have been releasing what they asked for and how it was countered. The studios are seriously demented. Here is a good account to follow: https://twitter.com/carolinerenard_

I think so. Tim Ballard and Jim Caviezel, who plays Ballard have both been linked to Q theories.

4 screenings today at the theatre 0.5 mile up the road from me. Multiple other screenings available throughout the metro area at the chain's other locations.

But sure, they're being "silenced". *yawn*

I know a few imax locations in MN that aren’t listed. They’re simply not showing the movie.

In addition to that, the MN zoo used to have an imax theater just outside its main gates and would run movies like that, but that theater closed due to COVID.

What an absurd and wonderful way to shoot a movie. I can't even imagine the time it took to frame those correctly and/or make the edits to convert it.

                        • Sounds like big box office this weekend. Looking forward to both Barbie and Oppenheimer- not all of us want all comic/superhero all the time so it’s nice to see something else getting attention

                          • Oppenheimer was....

It's difficult (In a good way) to put into words. I knew he was ostracized, but the extent that came out. Whew. It's an adventure. What's more incredible is a good portion of the situation / language comes verbatim from the inquiry transcripts itself.

Yes there is a huge "known" cast, but they all take on their roles where you get lost in the story.

It's going to win all of the Oscar's, and if it doesn't, theres something seriously wrong with the academy.

I may have to go see it again. There's just so much emotion carrying through this film.

Also, the practical effects are 100%. I was half expecting a "Mr. Nolan would like to personally thank the US Atomic Energy Commission, the US Department of Defense, Holloman Air Force Base, and the White Sands Missle Range for their participation and test firing," during the end credits.

                              • Wrong Nolan movie, but finally watched "Tenet". I think I need to read a short novel to understand exactly who was doing what, but that's the fun of a Nolan movie. Questions for those who saw Oppenheimer:
                                - Does he find a way to put Michael Caine in it?
                                - Does he employ non-linear storytelling, even when not needed?
                                - Is dramatic tension underscored by the use of a drawn-out low-pitch background sound?
