    • If the CGI was better in Matrix 2 I might agree with Scooby...but it looks like a video game and does not hold up so I can't. I watched the Matrix last night and everything holds up still. In my Modern Philosophy class we definitely discussed Matrix Reloaded and I did my final presentation using it to explain everyone we studied. (and I got an A)

The Matrix is the better film, Matrix Reloaded is much more fun to discuss especially when it came out. Hell on this board there was some awesome discussions about what would happen next and what everything meant...good times :^) (I swear you were part of them Kepler but I could be mistaken) I liked the film but I LOVED discussing it more.

When it comes to Aliens/Alien I saw Aliens first (I wasnt born when Alien came out) so I love it...but there is no objective metric where I would ever say it is better. It is a great sequel and I watch it every time I see it is on TV but it is an action thriller in classic Cameron style. Alien took the Horror and Sci Fi as genres so much farther and deeper than they had been to that point. Ridley Scott just nailed everything down to even just the catchphrase "In Space No One Can Hear You Scream". Aliens works because it doesn't try to be Alien. It doesn't exactly work but I always say Alien is like Halloween in Space and Aliens is Terminator in Space.

True story my dad went to see Alien in the theater and freaked out before it started and left. Saw it on TV later and it is probably in his Top Ten films all time. When I was a kid we watched those two films whenever they were on.

Of course I'm a fan of the Vikings. A sick and demented Masochist of a fan, but a fan none the less.

      • The reason I like Matrix 2 is because it messes with your head way more than one did and it doesn't try to make any sense of what is going on. I hated that 3 tried to explain things. It also has the greatest car chase ever filmed outside of Deathproof.

          • Marvel is going full tilt on the multiverse with its next phase of movies. There are people trying to figure out which of the old Spider-Man actors are going to appear in the next movie, and I’d get a kick out of it if they included a short bit of Nick Cage doing voice work for his fully animated Noir Spider-Man from that recent animated movie.

I know I am an outlier on that take. I think we all can agree that the third one was an abysmal disaster.

I do like that scene (mainly cause the actor nails it) but honestly I preferred the scenes with the Merovingian and the Keymaker. The fight scene in that house was sweet and the Merovingian was just cool hell! (and Monica Belluci was not so bad either) I also liked the head of the Council of Zion...he was kind of a cool character who many thought was the previous version of The One. (cause they select people to join them in the new updated Matrix)

The Oracle is way better in The Matrix than in Reloaded.

                            Anyways, such a good movie.

I mean……we have movies glorifying the cia, fbi, military…how is this different honestly? All 3 of the aforementioned have committed horrible atrocities with significantly higher body counts.

i hear you though. I’ve read Nicholas Pileggi’s books that inspired Casino and Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco based on Joseph Pistone, 2 books on Whitey “Bulgah”, 5 families Selwyn Raab, Michael Franzese book etc. the reality is the mob guys are vermin scum.

But sopranos is a fictional family and it’s got incredible writing and acting imo.

….side note: When I read Donnie brasco it scared the hell out of me. It was omitted from the movie but Pistone came to Milwaukee in an attempt to set-up Frank Balistreiri. I lived in the neighborhood where a lot of the activity in these chapters took place. Balistreiri actually admitted he was set to kill Pistone/brasco because he thought he was a fed. A seriously eye opening book.
