  • The AFC doesn't even have any teams with <4 losses, which is nuts. On the other hand, if there's a year where adding an extra WC team is very meh, it's this year, where you're more likely to be adding some 9-8 teams and not 11-6 or something like that. (God I hate having to come up with 17 game records.)

    • Thinking about it, I really am an NFL Great Lakes Whore.

      Minnesota
      Green Bay
      Chicago
      Detroit
      Cleveland
      Buffalo

I would be perfectly at peace if that was the entire league.

      Add Toledo and Milwaukee.

Edit: holy sh-t, I had no idea how far inland (350 miles!) Minneapolis was!!! I honestly thought it was within 100 miles of either Lake Superior or Lake Michigan.
Well, the Vikings have to stay so that means a few other cities are now eligible.

That gets Pittsburgh in, which is good. Syracuse, any takers?

Indy is closer to Lake Michigan than that. So is Cincy to Lake Erie. Heck, New York is closer to Lake Ontario is less than 300 miles. Which puts Phily into play, too.

        • So the Bills take what happened to them last week and do the opposite (almost)- in the first half against TB, they have exactly zero rushing attempts by a running back. (Allen has something near 40 yards)

              I don't even know anymore.

What I meant was if you cut everybody from the NFL but the Norris Division, Buffalo, and the Steelers, you would not lose any core value, and this is coming from someone who has never rooted for any of those teams.

tl; dr: It should ****ing snow. See also: hockey. If you cut everybody from the NHL but Montreal and Toronto, you would not lose any core value.

I've always rounded the distance between MPLS and Duluth up to 150. Don't think there's 200 miles of Duluth before you get to the shore. ;^)

                • North of the Ohio and West of the Missouri. The rust belt and Northeast. I do think more football should be played in the snow and cold including the superb owl (not a typo)

But you should keep the Lions inside. So they stay soft. Just like they have been since they moved indoors.

And you can get the big bowl game inside when it's well below zero.

Oh, okay, that's makes more sense. I asked the google machine the distance from Minneapolis to Lake Superior and it said 350 miles. Maybe it meant to LSSU. :-)

OK, I feel better about my tenuous grasp of Flatland geography now.

There are only four bowl games. Rose, Cotton, Orange, Sugar. Everything else is a fraud.

                        • Sure sounding like the Urban Myer experiment will last just one year. He's now being accused of kicking a kicker.

I shudder to think about the tight end.

I'd add the Fiesta, too, but beyond those 5, you're right.

                              • Jacksonville fired Urban overnight. Khan didn’t immediately point to the story that came out yesterday of Urban kicking a former kicker during stretches and then verbally abusing him, but no doubt that was the final straw.
