    Same old Lions. Looks like another deeply under .500 season.

    For all of the fans crushed by almost but not quite making it, and posting about it again and again, be prepared for a lot of "cry me a river" from Lions fans. Close is SO much better than not even close in a remote manner.

      What would Lions fans know about getting close?

            Of all the teams I'm not a fan of, in all sports, there are two teams I have developed a real affection for watching them suffer year after year for the last fifty years: the Lions and the Browns.
            Cornell University

              I'm not sure how the Browns over 50 years get compared to the Lions. The only time they sucked as bad was the new Browns. The old Browns lost some heartbreaks in conference championships that Lions fans can only dream of losing. So the Browns have at least won playoff games. Some of the most famous AFC Championships had the Browns in them (just ask John Elway). The Lions have just one win, and it was not famous, other than it was another bad coach.

              According to wiki, in the Super Bowl era the Browns have been to the playoffs 16 times winning 7, Lions 9- winning just one.

              Comparing the new Browns to the Lions is more correct, but that's 22 years old.

              edit- ironically, the Browns are my mom's team. As a HS student, she played trumpet for her HS marching band for the Browns.

                Well, the way things are shaping up, the Vikings could wind up "leading" the NFC North after Week 1.
