One of the leading talking points all week was how the Browns had to shut down the practice facility, and whatnot due to Covid. And most expected them to suck Sunday night. But it was quite the opposite.

And I may be remembering this wrong, but it sure seemed that the teams who could not practice during a week (or two) actually played better.

Who will be the first coaching staff to pick up on that and very much change the practice schedule during the season.
I think there is a lot of that already going on. I recall reading a book years ago about a football coach (it may have been Lombardi or Shula) that talked about how before the season and in the first few weeks of the season, the coaching staff really put the players through their paces, but by the time the second half of the season rolled around practices were nothing more than glorified walk throughs.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

The long-time coach for St. John's U in Collegeville, MN (city called out for the uneducated Coasties), Coach John Gia.....Italian name would pretty much have his players walk through plays and never had them in pads after the first couple games of the season. He won a bunch of D-III championships.

Today, Green Bay signed Veldheer from Indy's practice squad, and he will likely become the first player in NFL history to play two playoff games for two different teams in the same season.

Here's to hoping that Veldheer becomes the first player in NFL history to go 0-2 in the NFL playoffs in one season. : - )

FWIW, Minnesota has the record for most road playoff losses with 19. : - )

That's an interesting stat. You hafta to be good enough to win but bad enough to be on the road.

Rodgers has almost half those wins. Under the McCarthy/Rodgers combo, 10/16 playoff games were on the road and they went .500 in those. This will actually be the first conference championship Rodgers has played at home.

Rodgers is 4-6 in road playoff games, with three of those wins coming in 2010.

As for NFC Championship Games, Rodgers was on the 2007 Packers squad that lost at home in the NFC Championship game...but was the backup and did not play.

Next weekend, Green Bay will play in its 9th NFC Championship game...tied with Minnesota for the 4th most. For those wondering, San Francisco and Pittsburgh have played in the most conference title games (16), although New England has the most victories (11 - Dallas has the most NFC Championship game victories, at 8). The Giants (5-0) and Bengals (2-0) are the only two teams to be undefeated. The Seahawks are undefeated in NFC Championship games (3-0), and are also the only team to have played in both the AFC and NFC Championship games. They lost the '83 AFC Championship to the Raiders 30-14, after beating the Raiders twice in the regular season.

The Houston Texans are the only team to never appear in its conference championship game.
