Michigan counts on election day. Not sure about other states.

      • Ky is on pace for record voter turnout in a primary, based on the number of absentee ballots already received by Monday. Louisville’s NAACP President agrees with Democratic Governor Andy Beshear that there wasn’t an effort to suppress voters, and applauds the early-voting and mail-in voting w/out excuse measures implemented for the primary. Based on the ridiculously small sample size of in-person voting that’s been released, coupled with anecdotal evidence of my female friends voting Booker instead of McGrath, I’d say Booker has a real shot.

*I don’t think any of the released numbers include absentee ballots.

A 24-year-old political newcomer has defeated the Republican candidate endorsed by Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in a GOP runoff for Meadows’ old congressional seat.
The problem with stuff like this is it just keeps getting Republicans elected. Which means that this cycle never ends. I'd rather have the pyscho win so the Democrat has a shot.

What do you mean? The 24-year-old is the psycho candidate, and gives Dems a better chance in a ruby red seat. Which, from what I’ve read, still means next to no chance. The GOP wins this unless it turns out the 24-year-old is pro-choice or something ghastly like that.

Exactly. It's great if it gives the Dems a better shot, but that only matters if the Dems actually win.

For comparison, there's a GOP state house member in Michigan from Iron Mountain. In 2016 he won by a comparatively small margin of 5% compared to what the Republican in that district usually wins by (excluding 2008 when it actually flipped blue for two years). He won again in 2018, and best I can tell just spends his time trolling Whitmer on Twitter. For example, he complained Mackinac Island was included in Region 6 for reopening rather than Region 8. Region 8 is the UP. Mackinac Island's county is also in the UP. But the entire point was moot because Regions 6 and 8 were opening in tandem, and Mackinac Island isn't his congressional district.

Man, I remember when people threw an absolute fit when the Iowa Caucus results were delayed one week. Looks like we were just trend setters.

This is a great question and I have no idea.

IINM in OR you can countermand your ballot with a later ballot which must be f-cking impossible to deal with.

This can be the case sometimes, but in this case both candidates were utter f-ckwits. Still, while the other one was establishment and a dependable vote, this one is just as likely to vote against a GOP position because it isn't psychotic enough.

So it's probably a push but it might be a win beyond the undoubted symbolic win of embarrassing the Nazi High Command.

It is entirely possible he will lynch somebody between now and the election but that will just mean he wins from prison.

It's going to suck so hard, especially in places like TX and FL where the state government will be actively cheating for the GOP.

As with COVID it may be impossible to trust election results coming from those places from now on.

We're gonna need to see the receipts from those states.

                              No receipt, no vote count.
