Dabo voting them 11th has absolutely nothing to do with Clemson playing like garbage. Dabo also stated that he didn't believe OSU was actually the 11th best team, but rather that a team that only played 6 games shouldn't be voted as a Top 10 team.

ETA: I do agree with you that it probably was a misstep. It didn't help his team at all, and it may have motivated OSU in practice a bit more (may also motivate OSU to run up the score).

You & the others who have commented have this figured out. Definitely a misstep, but a minor factor at most.

The Buckeyes were the more motivated team last night. But the key factor was an intense desire to reverse the result of last year's playoff game.

Was it simply a matter that in hoops the money didn't show up until 1979 and the NC$$ was positioned to control it, whereas in football the fix was already in long before so the P5 controlled the money from the start?

The NCAA decided to expand the BB tourney becoming the bigger tournament over the NIT. They controlled the growth of its basketball tournament and the profits. It did not create the Bowl games so the profits stayed with the creators and the conferences that opted in.

Their collective record is 78-60 (an average of a 7-5 or 7-6 season), and their best season was a 10-4 campaign in 2018 (with a Sugar Bowl win against Georgia). That was their only 10-win season in this span. 6 of the seasons they finished with 7 or fewer wins, including 4 losing seasons. 0 National Championships, 0 Playoff Appearances, 0 Conference Championships, 0 Conference Division Championships, and 1 Top 15 season in an 11 season span does not equate to a blue chip program.
