So how did Georgia end up kicking from their own 20 (after an unsportsmanlike penalty) and then down Cincy at their own 2 yard line to set up the safety - lateral play that failed, penalty on the return? It’s inconsequential to the final result, but seemed odd and I can’t find a replay of the kick itself.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

They kicked a low line drive that bounced over the last guy back. He then had to race the Georgia players back to the ball and fall on it at the two.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Cincy player let it bounce in front of him, then was unsure what to do and let it go past him. It was probably going into the end zone for a touchback, but he decided to lay on it at the 2 with UGA coming down rather than risking the longest onside in history.

Kick bounced in front, and then over, the returner, who then had to scramble back to cover up at the 2 yard line.

Yeah. If they don't score a TD here, it could be over. Notre Dame does not look like they will be able to stop Alabama's offense very often today.

FCS tourney it has 24 participants from 125 teams. FBS is at 130 teams. Meet in the middle somewhere.

Of course that will not be allowed to happen because once you get a tournament with underdogs given a chance then the racket falls apart. G5 teams are simply there to make the P5 teams feel good about their record at the end of the season.

I disagree, the cartel would love underdogs knocking off P5s a few times a playoff. That's the big secret of the money avalanche of March Madness. They figured out a way for fans to want to watch the equivalent of the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl.

I actually think they should have an Open tournament and eliminate the DI/Ia/II distinction. Make it 64, let everybody in with conference bids. By definition the teams which advance are the colleges with the least academic integrity so a long post-season doesn't hurt anyone.

I want to see Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference auto bid Colorado School of Mines play Oklahoma, or Ivy auto bid Harvard play Notre Dame.

The revenue generated from just one appearance will keep those minor conferences operational for a decade.

Deserves is a bit strong given that its subjective criteria.

The only known criteria that isnt subjective is that you must be a P5 team.

Well, they are the "most statistically justifiable" team to get the slot. So insofar as there is a standard of merit, they have it.

Whether that constitutes moral desert or worthiness I leave to Alasdair Macintyre.

The NCAA wants that to happen (in the basketball tourney) since they are the ones that profit off the tourney. The P5 teams do not want that in any way. The status quo works perfectly for them. They get all the profits less one G5 team. They print money and are only required to share a pittance compared to if the NCAA ran things. This system is working entirely as intended.
