    • I am convinced the only posters who could survive a 10 hour road trip in my car with me picking the music are Fade and Slap Shot, maybe Solo if I played the National, St. Vincent, and the White Stripes.

On a completely different level I listened to 10,000 Maniacs' In My Tribe for the first time in probably (25?) years and it actually held up. It's not earth shattering, but it's a more real record to me than say anything Edie Brickell ever made. I admit there may be a nostalgia effect in play as that was a wonderful time to be alive, but the overall messages and themes are every bit as applicable today.

Shout out to Amber as well - if you've not heard this I think you might like it.

A voice to die for, but if Natalie Merchant was your maid you wouldn't look at her twice.

c.f. Patti Smith, Excene Cervenka, Lena Lovich, Siouxie Sioux, Lora Logic, Poly Styrene, Pauline Black.

One of the coolest things about all these women is they were so plain and yet the genius just leaked out of them like pus. I would love to have a beer with any of them. But let's leave it at that.

Now, Viv Albertine, Kim Gordon, Kathleen Hanna... different story.

It is so bizarre and so Steely Dan that it's the most boring LA smooth jazz wallpaper song imaginable and it's about this gut wrenching horror.
So what you are saying is typical Steely Dan song

                          • Wu-Tang Clan and Method Man's solo stuff.

I have a paper due tonight and P!nk and Lady Gaga are way too distracting.
