  • To be fair, "buy some curtains" is an ******* response. For those who would prefer to have the windows open on nights that don't require an AC. Sorry.

Yes, they will applaud that. But again, it's not just the lumens, or the direction, it's also the color. The 5000K monstrosities cities are switching to are blinding and tend to have more blue light.

3000K or 2700K are perfectly adequate.

        • So, I’m reading the story about this guy in Massachusetts suspected of killing his wife. Apparently he had Google searches on his computer like “how do you cut up a 115 pound woman.”

Ignoring the general stupidity of this guy, what happens if you Google that? Do you get scholarly articles or YouTube videos on how to carve up a human body? Seriously, w t f?
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

                • Got into a discussion with another "conservative" back home that argued taxes in MN are too high as evidenced by the huge surplus the state currently has and the lack of Fortune 500 development. And then of course he said that Walz will give some of it back in rebates for the sole purpose of gaining voters.

While I said I would prefer the state use it towards infrastructure and education, the state despite the tax rates ranks in the Top 10 (or higher) on a multitude of livability indexes, and I also pointed out that MN ranks 11th highest for most Fortunate 500 companies and is ranked 4th per capita. His comeback was, "well yeah but no companies are relocating to MN blah, blah, blah". I just had to walk away.

                  • Lack of F500 development...? Like, doesn't the Twin Cities have the highest concentration of Fortune 500 companies outside of NY and CA?

Edit: Apparently Texas now leads the way. I'll let that state subsidize them before they all rot from brain drain.

Edit 2: Ok, I was right. The Twin Cites is apparently #1 in F500/capita.

I think of Minny as one of the most tech-intensive cities in the US. First tier: SF, DC, NYC, Boston; Second tier: Minny, SJ, Austin, Chicago. That guy is insane.

Also: every important tech hub in the US is extremely liberal.

I look at Texas and see a lot of dying industries. 23 of the 51 in TX are in oil. You could probably throw several of the engineering/construction firms in oil as well. Good luck with that in 50 years.

                        MN's has the following breakdown:
Health Care: Insurance and Managed Care

Like I said I already told him where MN ranks for F500 but his comeback was that the area doesn't attract any out-state companies to relocate to there. When he pivoted there I left the chat.

Yeah, if you look at the derp capitals, there are like no companies there. Execs want ****ty labor cheap and non-union. If they have a small chance of having to set eyes on someone, they definitely want to be in a blue state.
