It's the bad hop plays that astound me.

Very true. She was 76, but in my mind’s eye she’ll forever be 40.
    Sorry to hear.
I read the bit about never saying thank you and thought- You were a kid. You are now an adult who has had time to think about it and get what it meant. She was an adult. I think she might have known she was helpful even if you didn't say.

My auntie Marlene. She passed weeks ago but the service was today. The picture boards, gets me every time. I was the baby of the entire extended family for 17 years, and she was the only one outside of my parents (sometimes the only one at all) that would stand up for me.

I was a meek kid that just rolled with the punches, and of course looking back the ribbing was trivial and what nearly every child encounters. But I vividly remember her going to bat for me regardless.

I never acknowledged it. Never said thank you. I’m sick about it.

These things matter. If you’re and aunt or uncle and think these kids aren’t paying attention, you’re wrong. You matter.

Also former Stanford coach. Had two bad seasons, but everyone said he was the nicest guy you could meet.
