Golf clubs are incredibly easy to break/snap the shaft. When that happens, you often have sharp edges that can easily cut into flesh if applied in a stabbing motion. So it was likely done with someone being hit with the club, the head breaking off in the process of that, and then the person falling up by stabbing them with the remainder of the handle.

Yep. Guy beat him with club, gouged his eyes, head of club fell off and then the guy impaled him from one side to the other. Poor guy was conscious when someone found him but appeared to pass out from shock when he was lifted off floor
