Hate to admit it but i am old enough to have seen him play. And your remark is totally spot on. Only followed the sport on a casual basis but when you see someone dominate the game and score 4 goals in about 15 minutes, you remember it.

          • Jim Brown is one of the greatest football players of all time, but it was lacrosse that had his heart.
Brown famously said he’d “rather play lacrosse six days a week and football on the seventh” and said it was “the greatest sport ever invented by mankind”

But RPI beat him 2 out of 3 years . https://rpiathletics.com/sports/mens...-university/79

Those were the days that Ned Harkness had both teams in the national spotlight and brought both National championships, the lacrosse one a cowinner in a poll with UVA. The lacrosse team also represented the US in the Olympics as a demo-sport in 1948 winning all but one game which was a tie.

                          • Yeah, Rome was maybe his best role. Criminally overlooked series.

I was talking more about Black Sails but it's also true about Rome. Though he was only in Black Sails for like 11 episodes but was in most (all?) of Rome.

Agree. It was a soap opera for young males, but it was really fun and very pretty. (I've heard what killed it was how expensive it was to make.)

I loved the portrayal of how the middle class lived in Rome. It was something you just don't get from epics. There was a lot of currentism (IRL he would have been just brutal to his servants and to women, even as a very good man) but it wasn't braindead like say Gladiator.
