Went for $190k, which was towards the higher end of what I thought (100-200). Hopefully the Twins were able to pick it up.

In reading the description, I was a bit surprised to see that Kirk Gibson's jersey from Game 1 of the '88 World Series went for $303k

I was also a bit surprised to see the '86 Puckett game worn jersey ($5,850) outdraw the '98 Jeter game worn jersey ($4,562) or the '93-95 Jeter minor league game worn jersey ($3,426).

The Gibson home run was probably every bit as iconic as Puckett's, and a lot of silly money floating around LA. Plus, Gibson's jersey was probably pretty clean since he just sat in the locker room the whole game.

With respect to the Puckett and Jeter game worns, I just wonder if there aren't a lot more of the Jeter jerseys floating around in the marketplace.

Nationally, the Gibson home run is more iconic than Puckett's, and for the casual baseball fan, I could see why it would go for more. That being said, Puckett's jersey is far more historically significant because: (1) Puckett is a hall-of-famer (first ballot); (2) Puckett's home run was in an elimination game (although Gibson's was the classic, down by 1, one man on, two out in the bottom of the ninth that kids grow up dreaming about); (3) Puckett had a tremendous Game 6 beyond the home run, coming a double shy of the cycle, 3 RBIs, 2 Rs, and making a tremendous catch against the glass to save a run; and (4) Puckett is synonymous with Twins baseball and a face of the franchise. You're probably right though as it pertains to silly LA money. I would estimate that if the situations had been different, and Puckett was an LA superstar (puke) and kept his team alive with a game-winner in dramatic fashion in a series where they eventually won it all, it could top $500k.

Perhaps. I have no idea how many Jeter game worn jerseys are floating around. I also have no idea how many Puckett game worn jerseys are floating around. However, I was surprised because: (1) Jeter's was from the '98 season where the Yankees won it all, while Puckett's was from the '86 season where the Twins finished 20 games under .500; (2) New York v. Minnesota markets; and (3) I can't imagine there are too many Jeter game worn minor league jerseys floating around.

Ah. All I remember from that series is Morris-Smoltz.

No worries. All I remember about the entire Mets history is Bill Buckner having the ball go through his legs.

You don't recall Johan Santana dominating the Mets and causing Blyleven to get his hair cut.

Then Santana going to the Mets and throwing their first * no hitter?

                        Who are the Mets?

I recall Johan dominating some minor league team causing Burt to get the hair cut.

All I remember about the Mets is "The Crying Game," the long drought between Mets home runs where the operator forgot to activate the motorized apple in center field after a Mets HR, the operator activating the apple after an *opposing team* HR, and their unhealthy obsession for over a decade in pointing out that the Braves third baseman named Larry, was in fact named Larry.
