  • Who Knew Big Business Loved Socialism So Much

More than 150 senior executives from some of the largest American companies across several major industries have lined up behind President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, according to a letter obtained by CNN.

The group of executives includes the top executives representing some of the powerful business interests in the US, ranging from bank and investment firms like Goldman Sachs and Blackstone, to technology companies like Google, Intel and IBM, to hospitality companies like Loews Hotels & Co. and airlines including American and United Airlines. Top executives from real estate, insurance and utility firms also signed on to the letter.
The weight of the businesses getting behind the proposal provides a boost to Democrats as the House moves towards a final vote on the package later this week, with the Senate slated to follow suit shortly after. Among those signed onto the letter are bold faced names including David Solomon, chairman and chief executive officer at Goldman Sachs; Stephen Schwartzman, the chairman and CEO of Blackstone; Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google; John Zimmer, the co-founder and president of Lyft; Brian Roberts, the chairman and CEO of Comcast and John Stankey the CEO of AT&T.

66% of Americans in a new The Economist/YouGov poll said they support Biden's economic/covid-19 relief plan. 25% said they oppose it. According to data from
@cwarshaw, this makes Biden's bill the most popular key legislative/executive action since the min wage hike of 2007

Having worked in brutalist government buildings for most of my career, I agree wholeheartedly. They're ugly as fark, and defenders of it on any grounds other than cost should be ashamed of themselves.

It usually isn't because people above the minimum wage tend to look down on it. Plus it isnt just that the minimum wage is popular but that people don't have an issue with it as part of the COVID plan.

(I know you were being snarky for funsies but I just wanted to say that)

                  Is the NLRB still hamstrung?

Biden fired the Board's General Counsel within a day or so of taking office. He also replaced the Board Chairperson with one of his own choosing, Lauren McFerran. Those two moves help, but the board is still 3-1 in favor of the racist party. By August that will change. He has a vacancy to fill, and the term of another racist party appointee ends in August. By the end of the summer, the Board may actually be working within the actual parameters of its mission.

For me the highlight of the entirety of the Obama presidency was his NLRB. My guess is Biden's will have a similar mindset.
