It does seem that way. Liberal Twitter enjoyed the hell out of it :^)

So what fuzzy stat will the cons use to explain this away?

I've already seen one say "yeah well that's just because of a trillion in stimulus" to which I would say "yes that was the whole ****ing point".

To be fair, they usually expect money to get spent and have it lead to nothing.

Also, I'm quite sure that 7.5m figure will be used to justify ending the extra UE in places where it is still paid. At this point I have to think it's mainly service industry employment that is lagging and you know a lot of restaurant owners are just waiting it out with short staff and reduced hours rather than raising menu prices to pay enough to lure workers back. We've dealt with a lot of slow service when we've been out the last few months (and always tip well in spite of it, because we know they're run ragged and it sucks).

          • Then those places should pay better ;^) (I do the same)

Gas prices by me are just fine. Hardly a difference outside of holidays when you expect big shifts.

I like that in the speech Biden said the jobs that will come from the Infrastructure Package will be blue collar that will not require college degrees. He is openly trolling every GOPer.

They'll scream about the deficit they caused by not taxing the rich for the last 40 years and that WE MUST HAVE TEH AUSTERITY!!!

              **** these people. I hope Biden's deficits are $10T a year.

They expect the same kind of money to go to people who don't need it in the form of tax cuts.

So $1T to a <.1% of the population instead of $1T to as many people as possible. That's how it's been since 1980.

40 years of trickle-down experimentation torpedoed by a global pandemic response. Just more fake news.

Fixed your post. Both parties have done this. That's what happens when the rich own the government.

                      • A++ trolling. Biden wears tan suit almost exactly 7 years after right-wing media made Obama wearing one into a scandal (msn.com)
When Obama wore a tan suit in 2014 a Republican congressman said it sent the wrong message to ISIS, and a Fox Business host called it "shocking."

Gas prices should be fine by anyone. In inflation adjusted dollars, the price of a gallon of gas today is cheaper than it was the year I got my license. In fact I would have to be paying about $3.90/gallon for it to be relatively equivalent, and I just gassed up for $2.99.

People may understand the idea of inflation, but they still ***** about nominal changes and the reality of it. It's why old managers ***** when a new college grad wants to start at 50k and not 10k like he did back in 1945.

$3/ gal is a bellwether, even if it shouldn't be anymore. And I'm waiting for the soothsayer from the "$5 gallon of gas here we come" thread to come back.
