      • Goebbels is looking for a new job.

Michael Pack, the controversial CEO of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), has resigned from his post.

USAGM said in a statement on Thursday that Pack resigned Wednesday after being notified by the Biden administration that he would be removed.

President Biden has nominated Kelu Chao, a veteran journalist who served as program director for Voice of America (VOA), as acting CEO until a permanent replacement is confirmed by the Senate.

        ...

Pack, a conservative filmmaker, was confirmed by the Senate in June and his months-long tenure at the agency was marked by intense controversy and scrutiny over his actions, with critics accusing him of politicizing the agency and carrying out acts of retribution against staff he accused of having an anti-Trump bias.

A federal judge ruled in November that Pack was unconstitutionally interfering and investigating the broadcasts under his authority, including Voice of America and its partner networks, saying the CEO was violating journalists' First Amendment rights. NPR reported that Pack spent $2 million of taxpayer funds on investigations of journalists under the banner of the U.S. Agency for Global Media over claims of bias.

He entered the role under investigation by the District Attorney for the District of Columbia, which filed suit earlier this month against Pack's nonprofit film company Public Media Lab, for funneling millions of dollars to Pack's for-profit production company Manifold productions.

Pack drew fire from Democratic and Republican lawmakers alike for ignoring a subpoena to testify before a House panel over several controversies, including his widespread firings of the heads of multiple broadcast agencies and halting funds for the U.S. Open Technology Fund.
This piece of trash didn't just lose his job, given that penultimate paragraph his obvious lateral transition to OAN director will be soon interrupted as he may be joining many of his Nazi colleagues in prison.

        Nation of laws, muthaf-cka.

        • The Nazis' gotcha questions during the press conference are risible, and The Lovely Jen Psaki handles them wonderfully, but I don't think she should take their questions at all. They are not journalists, they are Republican assets.

In all sincerity, the administration should look into pulling their press credentials. I guess Fox is impossible since it's so big, but even with them their constant lying has to be in some way accounted for. It doesn't matter if they are popular if they are fanning the insurrection. In fact, quite the opposite.

While it seems like a good idea, they wont. It's better to evade the question (and not lie) than it would be to ban them. They would go screaming First Amendment- the world is ending. And faux would run all over that, too- completely ignoring how dumpy treated reporters- there will be hypocrisy. Still, evasion is better than taking things out. Even if the press secretary just says "what kind of question is that" will be better.

While I get all that, there comes a point when you just ignore them because they are no longer entitled to even be in the conversation.

If Stormfront (which must be hopping mad and suing OAN for copyright infringement) demanded press credentials nobody would bat an eye when they screamed First Amendment after being denied.

Welp, OAN and Newsmax are at the level of Stormfront. Fox, while marginally better, still incited the insurrection. So at some point... who cares if they scream? Sedition means not having to say you're sorry for showing these dirtbags the door.

There were a couple guys. One has white hair, one looked like the clone from Boys from Brazil. I wish they would ID themselves so I could ignore their questions but as soon as they open their yap you can tell.

Edit: OK, I looked it up. One was Peter Doocy from Fox, with the inane mask question. Psaki straight up laughed at him. The other one whined why Biden mean to Nazis?, not name even one Nazi cabinet member?, I HAZ SAD! CAN'T YOU SEE ME WHITE!?

Psaki blew them both away easily enough but it was the kind of middle school stuff that impresses a rightwing audience. They aren't a threat, they're just wasting everybody's time.

Mostly I advocate ignoring the right -- from media to Members to voters to posters -- because they only waste our time. They're children making fart noises while adults are fighting fires.

                      • Was the mask question about Biden at Arlington? That was the Aryan Guy I mentioned (that looks like Peter Doocey) and the question made no sense. Even he didn't look like he was buying it which was why I thought she laughed. You could see in her eyes she was thinking "My President wore masks, still does and never got sick. How about yours?!"

The old lady bugs me because her questions are stupid and she seems obsessed with unity. I think she kind of threw her hands up today when Psaki kind of sidestepped her for the second day in a row.

These people better hope that COVID stays a thing for a while because it will be even easier to ignore them when it is a full press corp.

Yes. It was a POS question. The kind of thing a Devin Nunes or Gym Jordan would say. Face punchable. But MY Boo handled it with aplomb.
