They would hammer Whitmer on the COVID nursing home deaths and the business restrictions. She's not enough of a national name to overcome that.

Being a national figure might be a net negative at this point.

The Nazis will obviously slander, lie, and character assassinate -- it's what they do -- so that's a wash. But a national figure has already had time to develop rifts among potential supporters. That's why Obama was so perfect. He was bright shiny and new and he had no record to criticize, so he was free to craft his image purely with rhetoric.

A good looking non-threatening youngish midwestern cis white male from some completely irrelevant state with no office held higher than dog catcher would be ideal. It's really a shame Pete likes the dong.

Mr. Obama (first black President, sorry Mr. Clinton) proves one portion of that characterization incorrect.

But he does prove your "national figure might be a net negative" posit as Mr. Obama only had two years (not terms, years) in the US Senate.

                • Swan,

Our discussion (started by me) was only if certain factors hit. I expect Biden to run and will vote for him the day early voting starts. I am not Nina Turner...I get how elections work and what is at stake.

I assume "fat" was an autocorrection from "gay"?

Insanely unpopular “out-stater” governor who ****ed off the wrong constituency (teachers), coupled with amazing support from the eliminated candidates (especially Rocky Adkins) in an oddly-timed election (2019) that can favor Democrats in this ridiculously red state. He won by 5,000 votes. Alas, I don’t see him repeating such a feat.

Rover wasn’t completely wrong on election night 2019.

The people it bothers probably weren’t voting Dem anyway.
